Stocking up on equipment and lures waiting for the ice to melt.
Does anybody have any experience with a Whopper Plopper lure?

My buddy has a few of them in different colors and loves em, especially white. I've seen them work, but usually stick to my wacky-riggin' worms.

I got another buddy who uses them for musky, but still has yet to catch one.

Bought some daredevil 5 of diamond spoons the other day when did they go up to $8? Then again they are all brass. I found a couple in the clown pattern can not wait to cast that lure.

I won a reel in a fishing contest a couple years back a Penn salt water series. I brought it down to florida and while it is a nice reel it is too big to use if you are casting for a couple hours. I am bringing it home to put it on a trolling rod with 30 pound test spider wire on it.

I use a whopper plopper for bass. I have yet to catch one but got a bunch of hits. Definitely fun to use.

I remember when any cheap ass lure would catch fish.
    Have they evolved?

I have a bunch of whopper ploppers. I haven’t caught anything on them yet, but I do not fish topwater a lot.

Probably one of the most exciting fishing moments is top water fishing smallmouth bass on the mississippi river.

Best used at night. Only time I've had luck for bass on them. I like black and perch colors for the North East.

I prefer Deps Buzzjets myself over them. But there is a fair amount of differnce in cost.

But I've gotten smallies to charge up 50' off humps to smash them and that's always fun.

I use the perch pattern a lot both on the Mississippi and area lakes, one of the ploppers I ordered is the perch colored.

Got my canoe and trolling motor rigged up. My son and I were talking about using it a lot this spring. Im gonna find some mountain fishing streams and creeks for us to fish and camp as well.

Top water bass fishing is my favorite way to fish. So much excitement don’t always catch a lot but when you do it’s a blast! Live target frogs are one of my favorite.

I like the look of their freestyle frog, more of a jig, interesting.

Trying to find a tackle box that opens up with trays, like the old school ones, I do not want a bag with plastic boxes.

I think Plano still makes boxes like that.

Yeah, I only ever see the bags with plastic boxes at Cabelas now. I have seen the Plano ones at Fleet Farm, but it won't do your Cabelas gift card any good :bigcry:

Got my pike back from the taxidermist this week!!! And then it started raining and our ice got dangerous, just as I was getting psyched up for hard water.[IMG]
