Hey Everyone, This past Sunday I woke up early in the morning with a lot of pain in my chest and shoulder on my right side. The day before I was outside all day and I spent time in the woods putting up a stand, checking cameras, minerals, etc. I also had a fever and was getting pretty chilled. The thought in the back of my head was, I have lymes disease. When I woke at 4 am I decided to try and get more rest so I went back to sleep and see if I would get better. About 3 hours past and I didn't improve pain wise, and I was actually having a harder time breathing, my fiancee took me to the ER. I explained them the symptoms and what was wrong. They did a chest xray and CT scan and gave me some pain medication. Well in a couple hours they discovered that I have blood clots in my lungs. They explained to me that I will probably need to be on blood thinners for quite some time and have to see a specialist. They couldn't understand how this could happen to a 33 year old healthy active guy who was a non-smoker. It had them puzzled. Today it's Wednesday and I'm doing much better. The pain in my lungs has went down and I can almost breath normally again. Anyway I thought I would share my experience with everyone and share this reminder to help us enjoy the moments we have with family, friends, and our memories in the woods. You will never know if and when it will change.
Wow. Take it easy and rest up. I've only got a couple years on you. We aint no spring roosters anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That's a heck of a wake up call! Thanks for sharing, Marauder. We all need to take time every day to enjoy those we've been blessed with & sounds like you got some first hand knowledge.
I don't want to alarm you but you dodged the proverbial bullet. You can die from that very quickly. Our best friends lost their son from that very thing and he was your age. Like you, he was very active, competing in weight lifting and many other activities. He came home from vacation and walked into the house with his wife of less than a year and died. I'm in no way trying to scare you but you will definitely need to keep an eye on that with regular testing. Blessings.........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Wow, glad you're OK! I know firsthand as well can't take anything in life for granted. Like Jim said make sure you stay on top of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's great advice! I'm definitely watching it. Our wedding is actually this weekend so this event hasn't exactly showed up at an appropriate time. No drinking for this guy! Just going to hang an entertain with all the guests.
Oh man, so sorry to hear this and glad you're ok! I wish you a speedy recovery and make sure you stay on the right track in the future! Prayers certainly sent your way! Congrats on your upcoming wedding as well, I too am less than a year out from my wedding and give you a lot of credit for your positive outlook on all of this during this time! Best of luck!
I feel your pain. I had a heart attack 3 weeks ago out of the blue. I lift, ride a bike, eat clean - everything I'm supposed to and BAM! Mine came 6 days after my yearly full physical where I received a stellar report on how healthy I was. I've never had headaches or a stuffy nose. I never sniff or blow my nose, but when tax season was over I was battling what I thought was a summer cold. Didn't have a lot of experience with colds so I brought this up to my Dr, he passed it off as allergies and gave me a scrip. I told him I'd never had allergies before and he said at 40 our bodies change. Well, it was actually pneumonia. Glad you're ok. I'm with you in the medicine department. I've probably taken 5 tylenol in my life and now take 6 meds a day.
I don't know where you are spiritually but sometimes God has to put us flat on our backs to make us look up. You have my prayers. If you have a wife and kids like I do it will definitely make you think. I am 50 and I have a disease where the muscles that allow you to swallow die and you can no longer eat or drink. I had to travel to Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and have my esophagus removed and part of my stomach is now my new esophagus. I believe your situation is more serious, blood clots in your lungs can affect you is so many negative ways. I guess what I am trying to say is to use this experience to evaluate your life and enjoy every aspect of it. We are all blessed in so many ways we just need to look.
