    I know the link is old and we now have Part 107, but Part 107 didn't change the FAA's stance on what is considered a commercial operation. My whole point was that if there is compensation of any kind then, according to the FAA, its considered a commercial operation. I referenced the article to show that common sense isn't given much consideration.

    So does this mean Trump is going to confiscate our drones and throw us in Guantanamo?

    The FAA is funny. They have the authority to make the rules... but they don't have authority to enforce them.

    Having said that, I'll be getting my 107 certification this winter/spring. The process actually fascinates me.
