Looking at the two decoys side by side, the body is real close to the same. Head coloring and the beard looks to be the main difference. Has anyone repainted a head and added a beard to make a Jake from Hen?

No and I probably wouldn't try. They see color and although they might look very similar to us, I'd bet a turkey will know the difference and probably not want anything to do with it. Although these birds seem stupid sometimes, they deserve more credit than a lot of people give them. I'd just spend the money and get a hen decoy. Put out the hen and jake together and let a tom come over and try to whoop the jake's butt.

I agree with Jedi. You don't need super fancy decoys either, one of my favorite hen decoys for run n gun is a fold up hen decoy that I got for cheap the first year I started turkey hunting.

Won't have to now. Have Jake half strut and 2 hens. Think I have enough decoys for a few years. Sometimes a guy does get lucky, even me !! Thanks much, Don.
