http://www.gon.com/news/hiker-attacked-coyote-georgia Anyone been in this predicament before with a coyote or another game animal? Pretty crazy... it's stories like this why I carry my pistol on my lease if I go out and about. Now the odds of this happening are pretty slim I imagine but just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this.
Pretty crazy! He was lucky to have pinned its head down quickly. And that he was carrying a knife. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Rare indeed but pleased it ended well for the guy. I always carry a pistol, had to fire plenty of warning shots off at bears on my place.
Normally wild animals are more afraid of us than we are of them. A rare situation indeed but glad it turned out in favor of the hiker.
That's no joke. I wouldn't know what to do had that happen in the early morning hours walking to my stand or leaving my stand in the dark lol and only having a knife on me.
No coyote in it's right mind would stand while that close to a human, so there is an indicator for you.
I saw a video on YouTube a few days ago that reminds me of this. Except in this instance it was a bobcat attacking a turkey hunter armed with a shotgun. I think the bobcat ran off after an initial lunge but it's just a sterling example of why I always carry at least a handgun with me in the woods at all times.
