Hey guys, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here.
Some of y’all might remember I’ve gone to Colorado the last two years for elk. I’m working on planning this years trip and was just curious if anyone here has been into Unit 161 and would mind sharing kinda what the terrain and elk population was like ?

If you’d rather not that’s fine, I totally understand.

Are you going to the western side in Routt Nat'l Forest and what season are you going? I hunted 14 which is catty corner south west of 161 so I imagine the terrain is very similar, not crazy steep, not crazy high elevations. 161 is a little farther away from steamboat so I imagine there's less berry pickers hiking around. Can't comment on elk population other than I have a friend that shot a cow there. You could give the wildlife biologist a call and they would know
