When there are some areas where you need to cross water for public land hunts, do you think that a canoe or kayak is best? I'm thinking Canoe.
Love my kayak BUT when hunting and hoping to come back out heavier than I went in............. canoe wins.
Look the Old Town Next, it's a canoe kayak hybrid, lots of good reviews! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Kayak is more portable but you add stand and deer and most of them are over loaded. I use a fiberglass canoe.
Had a small piece laying around (2'x3'-ish). Worked great but the critters ate it up this winter. I'll probably try and find another piece or two.
I have an old town kayak will hold a lot. I use for duck hunting, will hold about 3 dozen decoys plus myself with waders. and its a lot lighter than a canoe
I use a canoe even though it is a bit heavier it can haul alot more gear. When I'm by myself I put an old chlorine container up front with about 12 gallons of water in it to counter my weight and trolling motor weight in the back. I use the water rather than dumbbells in case I shoot a deer I can just dump out the water rather than haul extra weight back. Here is my setup.
