What cover scent do you have the best success with while walking to your stand? Put it on the bottom of your boots and where else? Thanks!!

Best cover scent is no scent at all. Wear rubber boots, play the wind and hope for the best.

I use scent eliminator spray. I won't debate its efficacy but it makes me feel better using it. From what I've read about a deer's nose, a cover scent doesn't cover anything, but just gives the deer one more odor to smell.

I do use Carbon Synergy inside my boots but only bc I have stinky feet. On the flip side of that French girls can never get enough of that irresistible odor..

Cover scent? Take a fresh crap spray air freshener and what does it smell like? It smells like somebody sprayed air freshener on a pile of crap that is what cover scent coupled with human odor smells like to a deer.

Seriously though I believe rubber boots sprayed down good and hanging your clothes out on a line to let the wind air them out to be our best options in leaving behind less of a scent trail.
The boots I wear have neoprene and I feel they will hold scent so I will rub mud on the neoprene if I feel they need washed down.

I’ve had more success this year having deer come into range as well as getting on my downwind side using nothing at all besides pre washing my gear and spraying down before every sit. Previous years use to use doe p and evercalm rubbed on my boots and deer were more weary coming into distance even coming in up wind. I think they are expecting to see something when smelling deer urine based scents and are more alert on there approach into areas you are hunting. Just what I have noticed this year compared to previous years.

I have always avoided using scents of any kind. I always just play the wind. This year I jumped on the evercalm bus. I had a great buck coming in. Before he even got to a tree I put a little on, he knew. About a split second later, he acted like I just shot at him. Granted he circled downwind but instead of acting confused and cautious, he was frantic. Needless to say it is just one experience, but this buck sure did not like it.

I used to use cover scents and the scent be gone sprays and always seemed to get busted, wind or no wind. For the last ten years I have just been washing all my hunting clothes with a cup of baking soda. I run a cycle with the wash machine empty with a cup of baking soda, then the clothes go in the same way for a wash. Air dry your clothes or put them in the dryer just as long as the old lady doesn't use smell good dryer sheets in the dryer. Been working for me for years, give it a try.

I've been using EverClam and Real Deer (Shannon Outdoors) for years and have never been disappointed. These scents are not attractants, just cover scents. I put EverClam on the heel and toe of one boot and I put Real Deer on the sole of the other boot. As someone else said, I'm not here to argue its effectiveness. OP asked a question and I'm simply giving my answer. I've been using this combination for many years and I have confidence in both products. I've had deer walk on the same path/trail I walked on and not have them spook or bust me. Maybe I was just lucky but like I said, it gives me confidence and that's a good enough reason for me.

I've considered Nose Jammer. The science makes sense but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Had some old-timers tell me that they use skunk scent to help mask our odor. Never personally tried it, but I'll use evercalm on my boots and nearby trees to my stand and play the right winds.
