Well I bumped around to a few bows and decided to go back to the HTR. Now just need to pop in a peep and dial it in.

I hopped around for a few years until I bought my htr. Never shot a smoother bow. Only have it set at 65# and I love it.

I've always been a Hoyt guy and said I would never own a Matthews. However I wanted a back up bow and I went to three different shops closed my eyes and just drew and fired. The bow that I picked every time was the Matthews HTR. Let's just say it is not my back up bow anymore. It is number one ahead of my Hoyt. This thing draws so smooth and is so quiet it's amazing

There are a few on Archery talk right now. You can catch them for around 500-600 bare bow.

Yea I check out the classifieds from time to time. I'm a lefty so my options are sort of limited.

HHA for me. I prefer the slider to the wheel as well.

I've been reading some reviews on the draw cycle and some say its starts stiff and drops into the valley like a truck hitting a brick wall. Any truth to that?

I have to strongly disagree with that one...the draw cycle is one of my favorite things about the bow, but then again everyone feels differently about each bow they shoot. I was wanting to switch to a 32" ATA bow since I was switching from my single cam Heli-m at 30" ATA that had that "hump" to get over half way through the draw cycle and wanted a better string angle with the longer ATA. Drawing my Hel-m at 71 lbs felt like 71lbs, this thing torqued down at the same draw weight feels far lighter, it also is very forgiving for it's brace height, and I am very pleased with its smooth valley and hard backwall . It's not a "blazer" in regards to speed, but I am not a speed guy as you can see from my arrow set up in my signature and I prefer a heavy higher KE/momentum arrow that will out perform/penetrate any of the arrows thrown out of these dudes bragging about their "arrow speed". The HTR is a dream to shoot IMO.

Forgot to mention that it is pretty well balanced also, but with all honesty seemed slightly top heavy to me. It's nothing a stabilizer won't correct or even a smaller sidebar for slightly additional weight. I have since moved my small sidebar lower to the mounting hole in the bottom of the riser (from when the pic above was taken when setting her up and putting new threads on) and to me it is weighted perfectly now.
