Well I figured that I would get a thread like this going since October 1st is coming quick. It would be nice if the New York guys on here could give live updates of what's going on in their neck of the woods. I'm from Western New York and hunt mostly 8G and 9F. This is my first season since I began deer hunting that I will not be in school in the fall, which means my full time job will be cutting my time in the woods big time. But I am staying optimistic and have a couple dates planned for my time off. I'm also not travelling west for an archery hunt this year, unfortunately.

As of right now I really have not had anything special on cameras. It seems like the antler growth is 2 to 3 weeks behind where the bucks were last year. This heat and lack of rain has pushed off planting foodplots this year, but I am hoping to get those in next week. I hope to hear what you guys are up to, how last year went and how every one does this year!

8G 8A here. I tried planting soybeans but the lack of rain killed it. Redoing the fields now for brassica s.

I ended up taking one of my target bucks last year but I have been chasing a beast for 3 years and I think this is my year!

Hunting 7s/7r here. Unsuccessful year here last year. No fault but my own passed on some nice deer waiting for mister big but only caught a glimpse of him once. Got this nice one on camera this year so far Image1531788857.480021.jpg

That's great head gear for what looks to be a younger buck

For the past 4 years I had been hunting 7J & 7F. I definitely saw some great bucks and found my best set of sheds to date. I'm going to miss it out there! That's a nice looking buck on camera!

I found some good success last year and was able to harvest two bucks that I was really happy with. This past winter/spring I was able to pick up 53 sheds in NY with a dozen or so really nice antlers. So my outlook on the survivors for 2017 is positive but they have yet to show. Below is the best buck I have seen this summer (back in late July) and what I have been filling my evenings with until deer season! IMG_4014.jpg IMG_4070.jpg

These guys are also from 7s. The one with all the crazy on his rack was with gun. The clean 10 was bow. Both from the same property. There is another good deer over there I haven’t been able to catch up with. I’m trying to stay out of there as much as possible. I plan on going over there twice before season to trim up lanes and move stands, put out cameras then stay out of there

I just put a cam out a couple of weeks ago in a spot I just started hunting last season. Small piece. Holds some decent bucks

Western, what area do you hunt? I was just reliving your teams season last year through your team thread. That's going to be a tough one to beat!

How many of ya'll hunt around Saratoga Springs? I lived there for a couple of years and was surprised at the lack of hunters, or at least I met very few. Was out hiking in the Adirondacks and practically had to shoo deer off the trail..

I am sure that track misses me and my wallet..

It was a neat place to live. Did a lot of fishing but never had the opportunity to hunt.

3F,3G here, it's been pretty quiet with the hot weather we have had. Haven't been out to read the cards in 2 weeks so we shall see what this weekend holds, last check had more black bear on camera then anything else. I've never seen this many bear around the Dutchess county area in my life

I hunt austerlitz and new Lebanon. Right over the mass line. I used to go out to Cayuga County once a year but not anymore. I lost my killer hillsdale spot.
