I've been taking my nephew out every weekend since bow season opened up in Arkansas. A few weeks age he saw six does from one of my stands. He managed to fling an arrow at one of the bigger does. I could tell he was excited when I got his text. Just as I was answering him three does passed by and I put one of them down. I went to check on him and to find his doe. When I checked his arrow it was obvious it was just a grazing shot. We looked for blood for two hours and never found a drop. He scored during a youth hunt in Oklahoma. First deer ever and he's going on the wall.
I am fourteen. My dad and uncles got me hooked on archery when I was four. This is my fourth year bowhunting and it is far better than gun hunting. This year I have already put in roughly 30 hours in the stand and have been rewarded with two fine deer. You can read the stories behind them on my other posts. Here they are... Got Raven out for the Missouri Youth Firearms season this weekend . Love that they get a chance to rifle hunt a couple of weeks before everyone hits the woods . We ended up having plenty of action , seen deer and turkey every sit . She managed to miss her first buck last night but redeemed herself this morning with a near perfect 80 yard shot . Was an awesome weekend of answering questions , laughing , and sharing the ups and downs of hunting .
