I think this was a terrible decision. The ncaa will do what they wish with or without self discipline. Plus I think they are just trying to make theirselves look good in a bad situation.
They had to do it to distance the university from the scandal... But the NCAA will certainly pile on.
there have been schools that got in trouble with serious consequences in recent past. so if they were doing wrong and knew it I guess they will get what they deserve. I feel bad for all the innocent people at the school. I had to watch penn state go through this stuff. you think that would have sent a message but I guess not!
I think it goes back to distancing the University and second they may be thinking if they go ahead and start this year then the NCAA will take a year off what they are thinking. Anything less than 3 year ban is a slap on the wrist and the entire coaching staff and probably several in AD should be gone by the end of this. Going to take a while to rebuild. Pitino should probably be banned for 3 years as well.
Like Sota says...I think similar events happen fairly often in recruiting. The problem I have with this story is actually with Katrina Powell (wrote Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen). Certainly NOT a candidate for Mother of the year by pimping her 3 daughters to basketball recruits and/or their fathers then writing a book about it. Just when I think I can't be surprised by the scum of the earth... Escort scandal buries Louisville’s promising season | New York Post
I highly doubt every good college sports team hirers hookers for their prospective recruits. Have similar things happened at other colleges? Of course
Well of course not, most of the successful programs have "supporters" willing to do the deed, they don't need to outsource the sex workers they have them on staff.
A real punishment would be to have his son coach the team for the next 2 years. They wouldn't have to worry about declaring no post season play
I am die hard Kentucky fan and can't stand Louisville. With that being said I feel terrible for some of their fans and students. The timing of this decision couldn't be worse. Most of those kids had nothing to do with what went on and pay the biggest price.
The Ole Miss football team might want to start this process as well. About 4 years ago I remember saying they were going to get nailed. All of the sudden big time recruits just start shunning big time colleges and heading to Ole Miss out of nowhere.....yeah
Sex, drugs and rock n roll. I just wish I had taken my scholarship to Louisville if I had known it was gonna be that kinda party. I'm gonna invite Johnny football and the Louisville players over to my super bowl party.
