I know it's been asked, but I can't find it. What are some recommendations for a descent one for a 5 and 9 year old....and a 33 year old. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I love my Whisper Silent Cat by Gamo. Crazy accurate little gun. Its really hard on rabbits and squirrels. If you use the heavier ammo, it is not terribly noisy, but the neighbors will still hear it. At least I would assume they might, IF you were ever to shoot it in your fenced in back yard. Just sayin'.
I have the gamo whisper fusion and it's easy enough the kids can use it. But at 1000 FPS it isn't the the Crossman pump masters that we grew up with. The boy was shooting it Saturday and it put a pellet 2 inches deep in a 4 x 4 treated post we had the target on.
I've got a Benjamin Trail NP and love it. Don't shoot at tin buildings though as it will go right through. Have shot a lot of pests with it. Only downfall is break action single shot which might be tougher for younger kids. Take a look at Pyramid Air website. My next one will be a Benjamin Marauder which is a PCP but they're pretty spendy.
I personally don't see much of a price different or availability issue between the two. I would highly suggest this though for whichever caliber you get. Straight Shooters Full Pellet Sampler .22 Air rifles/bb guns/pellet guns etc.,. can be a major headache trying to sight in and being able to try 25 different types of pellets is awesome. What work in my gun XYZ might not what works the best for your same gun XYZ.
Well I have a Cabelas gift card burning a hole in my pocket I have been to the store twice trying to find something to buy guess I will go with the gamo.
So Christmas day me and the boys broke out all but the old daisy. The Gamo was my favorite. This collection was of a Winchester, Crosman and Gamo (front to back). Fast forward 15 to 20 years Matt, but this kid enjoyed himself. All .177.
My boys each got a Gamo Wildcat for Christmas this year. The stocks on the Gamo's are shorter than the Benjamin's that we tried out. That was the major selling point for us. The backyard rabbits don't stand a chance. Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I ended up going with the Gamo Tac Whisper, got the scope mounted hopefully it warms up and the wind dies so I can get it sighted in.
I brought the gun in to work today and sighted the scope in back in the warehouse, holy crap it sends a pellet was amazed how far it went in a 1/2" sheet of plywood.
In Sept my Father bought a Gamo .177 to address a rodent problem. In 3 months he's killed 30 squirrel, 8 coon, 4 skunk and 4 opossum. This thing is same hole accurate at 30 feet. Way more power than is needed for the task and fills the freezer.
Yeah we saw that when you misposted it in the bow hunting forum, rather than the watercooler section where off topics like bird feeder sniping belong.
So now you are aware of what a awesome air rifle it is. Mission accomplished. No need to pout or throw a tantrum over it.
