Been waiting 2 years and I am down to 24 days until my Iowa hunt a lot of things to look forward too other than the big bucks. Haven't seen Matt for a couple of years at the GTG's plus if I am lucky early I am going to try and stop and harass Fletch on my way home
Tom, I hope you and Matt have a great time and put down a bruiser. One day, I'd like to travel to Iowa, camp out, and hunt a few of their lesser pressured public land areas.
Can't wait to see how you guy do! I got enough point to get a bow tag, but haven't ever been to the state. I want to get out and scout one spring before I apply for the tag. This or Colorado will be my next hunting adventure! Good luck guys!
Gonna start getting points...probably do some DIY on Public...which still will hold a better chance of a 150+ bucks than the areas I hunt here.
I know, I just live by the motto hunt the top 20-25% of the bucks in my area and be grateful if given a chance....we'll see though... I seem to go through phases and kill solid but not giant bucks and then go more single buck oriented for a year or two...
Got a text late last night that one of the target bucks was shot by a neighbor. There is still plenty of big bucks but to have a big 8 pointer like that off the list sucks a bit.
Down to 12 days The farm where I shot the buck in my avatar has a 200" buck on it. 2 hunters and one of my buddies I hunt with have seen him. There is one more hunter that will be on that farm during the first gun season and he has not shot a big buck so he will shoot the first 140" that he sees.
