I am also looking at the XDS so interested to hear what others say. I have the shield in 40 and have a hard time keeping my grip when my hands are sweaty. I like the grip on the XDS better than the shield, although I have not shot the XDS.

I have the XDS .45. No complaints here. Its real easy to carry and conceal since I don't like to open carry.

Sorry to hijack but would you guys recommend a 9mm for home protection? I shot the M&P Shield during my CC class and really liked it.

Shot the .45 version, raceway has one. I'm a glock guy and the trigger was very different, but that's a preference thing I guess. Other than that it was a great carry piece and shot much better than I thought it would.

That is one of the good/bad things about the xds... the grip. It has a very aggressive grip, which is good especially in a real life protection scenario when you really dont want to drop the piece, but to shoot it is very uncomfortable as the grip almost cuts into the hand. i might try a talon grip on it.

I am considering the xds along with the glock 43. One of my employees just picked up a glock 43 for $399.

I went with a somewhat open mind but expected to buy the XD-S but picked up the Shield instead. The XD-S had to much take up in the trigger for my liking, it has a much different feel than my XD 40s trigger.

I ended up getting a Sig P938. With the 7 round mags it fit my hand perfect and I am partial to the single action and saftety on it.

    XDS9
    Glock 43
    Bersa BP9CC
    Walther PPS
    S&W Shield
    LC9s

Were all and more considered for me and all are solid options. The Shield and the Bersa felt the best but the trigger on the Bersa made it a no brainer for me.

The XDS specifically has a better than average trigger and to some an aggressive grip which will turn you off or on to it. The grip safety on Springfields bug me so while awesome firearms just never been my personal choice.

I sold mine, it wasn't for me. honestly I know this will be sacrilegious for some ..but I hate the grip safety on the spine of the grip. What did and do love about the xds is the looks I think it's bad ***.
That said my go to single stack 9 right is the 43. It's ugly as most glocks but it's been excellent in it's simplicity.

I have the Shield 9. The XDS and a the Glocks I tried did not feel as good holding it.

I have the 9 and the .45. There's a lot of kick out of a little gun, but I like mine for cc better than my kimber ultra carry.

Try some Talon rubber grips. Super thin so they don't add thickness, but work wonders to make it stick to your hands.

For mainly home use and if you like the shield, why not a full size m&p?
Solid gun, reasonably priced, and you got 17 rounds.
