I haven't posted anything about this recently.

Last year I started having some "minor" problems when I was running. I'd be running along and suddenly I felt totally out of breath. I didn't know at the time what was happening.

Late last year, the day after a speed work session, I noticed that my heart was skipping beats. Without going into a lot of detail, it's been an ailment that I've lived with and worked through. Many times when I'm running my heart will skip beats and pause, then my heart rate will plummet to around 70 BPM. Yeah, I stop and twiddle my thumbs waiting for my heart rate to regulate and then I continue on.

The day after a run, especially a hard run, about an hour after I get up my heart starts skipping beats and pausing. This continues for anywhere from an hour to almost all day.

I've worn two monitors, the most recent being two weeks ago. The day after a run, it recorded multiple skips and pauses. One of the pauses in my heartbeat was 5.5 seconds, another was 4.3 seconds and another was 3.5 seconds. Those were the longest, but it did it for hours.

The specialist got the results this past Wednesday. They called me and had me come in Thursday. I had a pacemaker implanted on Friday. I guess he thought it was urgent.

I'll be able to run again in around three weeks. My running coach is altering my training plan to get me back to where I am now as soon as possible.

Anyway, in case you were wondering what Christine was talking about, there ya go.

Oh, one sucky part - I can't shoot my bow for four weeks, so I miss the Kentucky opening weekend.

Everybody I know that's had a pacemaker implanted has felt way better afterwards. I hope and pray you'll feel the same way. :)

My heart skips too but just brief pauses. It feels funny when it does that.

I'm hoping so too, Christine. Those little pauses feel funny. Those 5 1/2 second pauses are just a bit unnerving.

Heal up. Glad they've got a course of action in progress. Falling over while out for, a jog can really ruin the, day.

I haven't passed out yet. I've come close a couple of times, but not quite. Hopefully this will put an end to it. If it does I can't wait to see where I can take this.

Hopefully the problem is fixed with the pace maker. Take it easy and don't over do it too soon. Better to miss the opener than rush it or you could miss a lot more. Keep up the faith and best wishes for a great future!

I just had my two week follow-up appointment this morning. Both of the leads are exactly where they are supposed to be in my heart and the device checked out perfect. I'm pretty much all healed up. I just have to wait two more weeks before I can run, shoot my bow, drive, lift anything with my left arm or raise that arm over my head.

Two more weeks. I'm starting to go stir-crazy.

On the bright side, when I start running again my heart should no longer stop me. If that problem is actually behind me then I see significant running improvement in my future.
