I want to get one of those air pellet guns that have the power to bring down squirrels. Any suggestions? Money is some what an object as I don't want to pay much more than $100. Thanks.
A bow will work well, just have to pick your shots so if you miss you hit the tree or branch rather than losing an arrow.
I bought my dad a Gamo Big Cat for father's day and he seems to like it. Came with scope and case, $130 originally but they were on sale at ****'s Sporting Goods for $99
Yep, Gamo Whisper Silent Cat here, it has the added noise suppression so it's good even if you live in a subdivision or something. I've taken many birds and squirrels with it.
I have a Gamo Whisper that has accounted for 100+ casualties of tree rats. Mine is the 1200 fps model. The trigger is pretty terrible but it will shoot groups the size of dime at 30 yards if you can shoot it well.
Mine is a bit older so the stock looks different, more traditional I guess. But I'm guessing internals are probably the same. Yeah, I'd say a 9 year old could handle it. It's probably a bit big for a 9 year old but it will work I'm sure and he'll grown into it for sure.
Not sure which pellet is the best to use but I can say that the plastic tipped ones are louder than the solid form ones.
Benjamin Trail NP All-Weather As for pellets, you can get advice but shoot a handful and see what shoots best out of your air rifle. This is true way more than same arrows out of different bows shooting way differently.
I have this in .22 cal and LOVE it! Wicked gun Benjamin Titan GP Nitro Piston Air Rifle. Air rifles - PyramydAir.com
I use regular Gamo lead pellets. The lightweight faster ones are a LOT louder and expensive. The lead ones are plenty accurate and kill squirrels pretty quick if you put it in the front shoulders or head.
I got the Gamo Whisper Cat last year and it has been a great little gun. Really accurate! It dumps squirrels with no problem. If shooting in town (where you are not wanting attention), use the heavy pellets to keep the noise down. They are still pretty loud, but the heavy pellets wont go supersonic, and that's what creates the loud "CRACK". A youngster might have a little trouble cocking the barrel. It is pretty tight. I found mine on Amazon for $139.99. Definitely worth it.
I have a Umarex Octane, thus far it's killed a boat load of birds that keep crapping on the cement around the pool.
I just ordered this one. Amazon.com : Gamo Whisper Silent Cat Air Rifle : Airsoft Rifles : Sports & Outdoors
Also have a gamo elite whisper fusion it is crazy accurate I'm sure with the right shot placement you could probably kill just about any small game with it hands down. Only thing I don't like about it is the factory scope it's ok but a better scope would make it very deadly Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
