What is this all about? People are going bat **** crazy over this and I don't even know what they are doing or how it works. Maybe I don't want to know.

Its getting so bad the DOT is putting signs up to remind driving to not play this game while driving. I must live a sheltered life.

Just another way to have people stare at their phones. My kids play it. Relative term as they are 19 and 20. Essentially you look through the camera of your phone to see the Pokemon. There are also things that you can collect in certain locations to assist in "catching" the little devils. Certain Pokemons can be found near certain location as well. So kinda like geo-cacheing without leaving anything.

    I'd rather obsess over whitetails.

Nothing shows how grounded in reality than grownups running around trying to capture a fictitious cartoon character.

You walk around looking for Pokémon you collect them and can take them to battle. Dumbest thing ever and I've heard that people have almost gotten hit by cars because they walk out in front of them looking for Pokémon. Haha just something that makes people look even dumber.

Like I posted on a different forum, if I'm going to spend time hunting something, it will be real, I'm going to eat it, and I will put it's antlers on display.

It is probably one of the better designed games due to the fact that kids have to actually get up and physically move to play the game instead of stay inside and sit on their a--. As long as they follow traffic laws and us common sense.

I think it's good if gets people up and moving. Darwinism if they get run over in the process. (Kidding! Mostly.)

Does the game randomly place the targets? Could a kid find anything walking around in country?

If they place the targets, it would be awesome if they put them on some mountain peaks around here. Heh.

I'm in the IT industry so I find some of the mobile games interesting due to how it affects people, socially, physically, and mentally. So I've been doing a lot of reading about mobile games over the past few years. Ironically playing games of any sort helps hand-eye coordination and brain activity. On the downside, mobile games force you to constantly look down at your phone and creates a hump on your neck called a dowager's hump and CAN make people socially awkward and unaware of their surroundings. This is why you see people getting hit by cars and earning Darwin awards like it's their job with this game. So I first heard about Pokemon Go from a guy at work. He's always on the lookout for new games and likes to try them all. I never understood the cartoon nor the cards that kids used to collect, they were after my time. But, the gist of Pokemon is, they are like a wild monster that you catch and use to battle against others. Basically this mobile game uses your phone's GPS and there are different locations across the globe that have items or Pokemon that you can collect/catch. Things like public bike racks, water towers, churches, parks, city welcome signs, etc., are the spots to catch them. As you walk/move/drive your character moves just like your car does when using your GPS. Once you collect Pokemon and items you can upgrade them and then you battle against other people to try and take over or hold Pokemon battle rings. There are 3 factions and you have to choose one and once you select one you go against the other two. I downloaded it and it's literally one of the dumbest things one could ever do in life. I saw adults going from tree to tree at a park trying to catch Pokemon all while their kids were left unattended on the playground.

I downloaded it and have played a bit. Honestly brings me back to 1998 when Pokemon ruled the world from 6th-8th grade. It's almost a nostalgia thing.

I don't run around and search for them. I've played it on my breaks at work with nothing else to do. It is insane here in MN... Large groups of people running around looking at their phones trying to catch Pokemon. Augmented reality is a pretty neat concept.

If it gets kids moving, fine, but I'd much rather see them hunting, fishing, riding bikes, having pine cone wars, or playing sports. The phones and iPads are taking over people's lives, and I even catch myself sometimes.
