The numbers behind Steph Curry's incredible MVP season

Just unbelievable. And im a Cavs fan.

In the last 2 years he's hit more 3s than Larry Bird or Michael Jordan did in their entire careers.

I get a little tired of those crowning him best all time, he is a great shooter and offensive player but his play on defense is not in the top 10.

Some do, some even build a career of it but they are not considered superstars. It takes work that does not offer much glamor.

That's why I watch college basketball and not pro. The good teams thrive around great defense.

Steph would be out with injury if he played in the NBA in the 80's and 90's.

Yes it is true but like the NFL the NBA wants scoring for the fantasy players.

I agree with him winning MVP, but not unanimously. That's an indictment, not on the rest of the players in the running, but on the voters themselves. Everyone knew he was going to win, but he's not even close to being a complete player. The voters should have been kind enough to throw a few votes to some of the more complete players. Kawhi Leonard should have received some votes, Russell Westbrook should have received some votes, and Lebron James should have received some votes. Those guys score, defend, and assist like crazy. Curry has a stacked team and mainly shoots 3s.

Anyone realize that Lebron averaged 30/8/7 and got 1 first place MVP vote in 2008? He also averaged 27/7/7 in the 04-05 season but was only 6th in MVP voting.

Steph is averaging 30/5/6 and got the unanimous MVP vote...

Im going to have to disagree with you. Did you read the article?

He's the 2nd most accurate 3 point shooter in NBA history, and he shoots more than anyone else. I don't think people realize how impressive that stat is.

Devils advocate...his team won more games than any other in NBA history. Set multiple records along the way. Led the league in scoring and steals, 3 pointers and in the paint shooting percentage.

Plus...voters have given Lebron the MVP 4 times already.

Yes, but in my opinion the MVP is a complete player who not only scores but defends and helps his teammates score. Like I said, I'm fine with him winning, he deserves it, but just not unanimously. I guess simply out of principle, no personal award should be "unanimous" in a team sport.

He's one of the better transitional defenders in the game. Like John Stockton was. Due to his size he cant post up on LeBron but he'll pick his pocket multiple times a game.

2 year in a row led the NBA in steals. Pretty impressive.

I am a Cavs fan too. I am in no way saying Curry isn't great and not jumping on your case by any means, but I simply disagree with it being a unanimous vote for a personal award in a team sport. I did say he's the rightful winner of the MVP, it's just my opinion.

Paul Krause holds the record for NFL interceptions, but he couldn't tackle or cover anyone.

I think Steph is the MVP really does not matter the vote, exciting to watch but honestly the over exposure and hype gets old no matter the player seems like the latest it thing and he is all you see on TV it seems.

Curry has developed into on the top defensive point guards in the league the past couple years. Anyone who says he doesn't play good defense is clueless.

Cooter, would you not agree like hockey the way the game is played in the playoffs is much different than the regular season? There is no emphasis on defense during the regular season in this era of the NBA.
