Time for a new truck and I decided that I am getting a Chevy instead of a Ford. This spring we had a new engine at the base and it was a Chevy 3500 I drove it and fell in love with the layout of the cab. Is it worth it to go look at Toyotas? Or a Dodge?
My Tundra was cheaper than all similarly equipped 1/2 tons. However, they all have their pros and cons. To tell you not to drive other brands to see for yourself would be ridiculous. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
You're paying for the reliability of the Toyotas. They aren't as nice as far as bells and whistles but they run and run and run.
I have a Tacoma with 227,000 miles on it and I love it! it is a 2007 4 door (for the twins car seats) 4x4 and I dont know what I would do with out it. I am replacing the CV axles this weekend but other than oil changes that is all I have had to do. I would advise drive everything that you can because the bells and whistles are nice but I like the reliability of a Toyota. Good luck!
Just curious, why did you go with Chevy over the Ford? I had a GMC, and switched to Ford 2 years ago. LOL. I like my F150 way more than I did my Sierra.
I just bought a 2016 1500 silverado. So far it has done nothing but impress me. It gets the fuel mileage they say it does and it rides great. I looked at the ford f150 at it was nice to but for me it came down to the deal and chevy have a much better rebate than ford did. No matter what brand you buy they all have there problems. Ford just had a big recall this week.
I have a Ford now, like I said I drove a Chevy a little this spring and liked the layout and comfort of the truck. I know this is an old bias but I won't have a Dodge with an automatic transmission. Cost isn't an issue really one brand vs another and resale isn't an issue either, it is going to be a 3 year lease. I actually thought about a few cars but I need a pick up to haul stuff and pull the boats and horse trailer.
If I were just hauling, I would buy a Ford. But it sounds like you are looking for a truck to use occasionally and something that is decent to ride in the rest of the time. That is my situation too and I am driving a GMC 2500. Much better ride and handling than a Ford, much nicer toys inside and still pulls my trailers with a tractor or loaded whatever construction materials I need on the jobsite. My experience with Dodge has been OK if you don't mind replacing the front end after 40,000 miles and their interiors just don't make it compared to Ford and nowhere near a GMC. Toyotas are little trucks and while they do run forever they get similar mileage, only in a little truck. I'm also stuck on a 3/4 ton truck. I don't need one that often but the time that I do, I want to make sure that I'm not trying to make do.
I plan on keeping my F150 for use on the farm so I won't be hauling anything heavy or dirty in the new truck, it is all about comfort with the new truck funny finally getting the 4 door cab after the kids are grown and gone. I have had little pick ups in the past I loved the Isuzu 4x4 pick ups, they were unbreakable but I am too old for a little pick up I want the ride and comfort of a big gas sucking pick up.
Just to clarify, by "little," you're referring to 1/2 tons vs. 3/4 ton, right? Sent from Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Stick with the chevy brother I love my 2500HD Duramax with the Allison transmission. They last and hold value very well.
I miss the cab space of my F150 but love the maneuverability of my Tacoma in the mountains. Everyone in town buys a huge truck and trailer to haul their razrs hours away to be able to make it up some of these mountain trails.... I just drive my truck and call it even.
