Anyone have experience with 2010 Mazda 3s or 6s. Got a car dealing buddy of mine that knew I've been thinking of grabbing a commuter centered vehicle for work and came across one of each with under 73k miles. Solid price but just no history with Mazda at all...

Tend to be very thirsty for little vehicles.

I have an 09 Mazda 3 and it's a good car. I get about 26 mpg on average but I have a bit of a lead foot. I've had mine for 2 years it's got 82k and still going strong

My mom had one, 2010 3s, and it had 3 transmissions put in within 2 years. Besides that, it ran great lol

Had 2 Mazda 3s, 2010, and a 2012, good little cars, fun to drive, but ate through tires every 30000 miles, even with regular alignment checks, and tire rotations. Best I could find out was its just the way they were set up, and the only way to fix it was to buy an after market part which would in turn void the warranty...

    What trans is in it?

My buddy has one that he drives about 200 miles per day and it's done very well so far.
I have a focus (2012) which is roughly the same that I had to put a new trans in at 118k.
I don't think they have the same drivetrain though, just parent companies.

I typically replace tires every 2 years typically on my vehicles anyways...well in the middle of the 3rd at latest typically. Which would be in the 25K-40K area for miles depending on the years...so not too abnormal for me...and they gotta be cheaper than the tires for the F150 I'd suspect.

Gonna go check out the Mazda 3 today (it has all the bells and whistles being Grand Touring) and the Mazda 6 (just Touring edition) on Wednesday. For the right price I doubt I'll say no to one of them...

Seriously? I had a Dodge Dakota known for their failings in trannies and keeping it serviced still never needed a new one?? Does she drive them hard and/or was it a manual?

Well did settle on the Mazda3 Grand Touring...thing is in crazy nice shape (one scratch under left side along rocker...but easy touch up by me will cure that). Lower than 70K miles, leather heated seats, sunroof, every option they had when made besides Nav (cellphone so no biggy). Talked them down $844 and got a brand new battery installed as well...win in my book.
