Bradys played in 6 SBs...but cheated and rode a defense to the first 3. Montana went 4 for 4 in SBs...but played with Jerry Rice for 3. Manning holds every record imaginable...but only won half as many SB's at the other two.
I think I'd take Montana. He was one of the best competitors of all times. He didn't have the physical size or abilities of the other QB's mentioned, yet he's right there on the list of best QB's ever because of the way he played the game. I was fortunate enough to watch the twilight of his career as a Chief. I'd take Brady right behind him. He's a great competitor. Manning is a great QB 95% of the time, but he just choked too many times when it mattered most to get my vote.
All deserve discussion as GOAT...but I think choosing the GOAT at QB is far too difficult due to era differences. I think even Starr deserves discussion, but due to era he is quickly tossed out to abruptly by many.
You could be describing Elway as well in that he overachieved based on his measurable items and such...again though I don't ever make a choice for GOAT of all time at QB....too me it far too difficult of an argument to truly close.
Yeah, Elway sits right up there near the top of the list. He torn my heart out on so many occasion as a Chiefs fan. I think I'd still take Montana though.
Fixed it for you. Before Rice entered the league Montana was already regarded as the top QB. At that point he was a veteran of two Superbowl wins, two Superbowl MVP's and three probowls (back when people actually showed up for them). I've always been a Montana guy and still am. Joe could throw it and run it extremely well and was amazing in the clutch.
Montana played on a Pro Bowl team compared to Brady and Manning. I would take Brady without question.
Brady's first 3 Super bowls were with NE teams which won with dominant defense so I'm not sure how much I agree with this? The 49'ers franchise was awful when Montana arrived. They were 2-14 in 1979. They drafted Montana for the 1980 season and he became the starter mid-way through the year, they ended up 6-10. The next season Montana was the full-time starter and they went 13-3 and won the Superbowl.
Old School Greats- Red Grange, Johnny Unitas, Otto Graham, Roger Staubach Great QB's- Elway, Favre, Marino, Young The Best- 1.Montana, 2. Brady, 3.Manning By the end of his career Brady will probably be #1.
