Any very good athlete can blow the league up for a few years. Tracy McGrady, Penny Hardaway, Priest Holmes, Shaun Alexander, ect. Truly great athletes perform at a high level for many years consecutively, not just 2 or 3. Steph is smashing records right before our eyes but has only been mainstream great for 4 years. Where is his place in NBA history?

IMO, its already set in stone that he's the greatest shooter of all time. Hes accomplished more IMO then Reggie Miller or Ray Allen based solely on the fact that hes been the best player on a Championship team (something those 2 never did). Guys like Kobe Bryant and Larry Bird were GREAT shooters that lead teams to Championships, but neither of them hold a candle to Steph.

I agree that he has more than likely already cemented his legacy as greatest shooter of all time.

Other than that...lets see him keep this level up for a few more years.

Great shooter indeed but he can not take over a game at both ends of the court like MJ could.

He's approaching that level. It takes time and you have to prove it for the whole career, but he's a very special player. I don't watch the NBA anymore. Used to be a pretty hardcore fan but just got away from it, but if GS is playing I will stop and watch it. He's that good.

He is the greatest shooter of this era. There is no way to compare him to Bird, Jordan and guys like Miller. The defense they played then is night and day from how they play now. Physically he wouldn't get off his shot like he does plus they would have wore him out.

How many bloody noses would it take for Steph to hesitate. Because if you were old enough to have watched the NBA in the 80's you would understand.

Nobody is ever going to dethrone Jordan though.

I can't stand to watch the Warriors...or Rockets, or any of the 3 point launching teams. I'm no NBA purist, but this style just doesn't interest me. I agree with Mark Jackson that Steph is going to hurt the overall game of basketball.

I don't get that at all. The three pointer is the great equalizer. I hate most of the NBA because it's 6'8" playing one on one and driving the ball. The iso turned basketball into a very boring game. The Warriors play a very fast paced exciting game. The balls going up and down the court quickly and there's always action.

Have you ever heard about his workout regime? This kid wanted it ever since he was able to dribble and nothing has ever stopped him...honestly if he'd grown up in the era with Bird, Miller or MJ I think he'd worked just as hard because this is what he has always wanted to do. That era definitely was more physical...but that era saw the few with Curry like work ethic rise to the top and I suspect he'd done the same as he is now.

He is one of the greatest shots no question...could he be one of the greatest ever...time will tell.

He also has such a quick release. Almost impossible to defend a shooter with a quick release if the catch the ball where they can shoot and for Curry, he can pretty much shoot from anywhere past half court.

How many can remember a great shooter who could not defend even starting in the 80's?

He's in his 7th season. Ray Allen played 19 and Reggie Miller played 18. Who knows if he will play that long, but lets just assume he does. Take his numbers times 2.5(first 3 season weren't big number years so you can kinda figure it will be similar to the later years in his career. That puts him on pace for over 3700 3pt field goal makes. That would put him at about 800 over Ray Allen.

We'll just have to see if he can stay healthy and play that long, but if he does it's a no doubter.
