Has anyone flown by Spirit airlines?

I'm booking a flight to Florida, Spirit has direct flights but the ticket price only includes you and one small item (purse, camera bag, etc or smaller) - all others are extra charge.

Just curious if anyone has any opinions on them.

    Thanks in advance :)

Flew from chattanooga to Disney with them. They were courteous and on time and good to my kids. Had to pay 30 bucks for two extra bags me and the misses took. I would fly with them again.

It's the norm nowadays to charge extra for checked luggage, unfortunately.

When I flew last summer, we were allowed one carry on (small suitcase). I thought that was normal.

    Thanks for info!

I've heard that their planes are haunted, hence the name.

Not if you are a frequent flier with lots of miles, I get two free bags up to 70 pounds free, that is why I only fly Delta.

Have a buddy that fly's them all the time. He flew round trip in January from Dallas to Chicago for $32. He usually doesn't travel with much but he will either pay the fee or UPS a box of his stuff if he has to.

I ended up switching airports and will be flying Delta (with a layover in Detroit) - but thanks for opinions! They do have some good deals though.

When I fly to Seattle this summer, Sun Country is the best I found.

Good call. I only fly delta any more. You always know what you're getting. If you're not on time you're only a few minutes off (and it's the airport's fault not delta's). Last time I flew I got upgraded to first class. Going to be hard to go back!

Good to hear, Indy. I've only flown one other time and it was with US Airlines.

Spirit is awful. They literally charge you a fee for everything and a lot times end up being more expensive in the end. Research before booking with Spirit.

That's what it looked like....they said it was only you and one small item (purse). Glad I didn't choose them.

The only complaint about Delta is if you are silver medallion other than the free bag you get squat, can't preboard, can't check in at the medallion pavilion and these features cost the airline nothing. Lucky enough to not be silver anymore, I get to buy first class tickets and the TSA security so I don't even have to wait in line with the tourists. I will admit I enjoy my cocktail while I watch the masses load up the back of the plane. Then again I have earned it usually fly out Saturday or Sunday and get back to MSP Thursday nights.
