Just ordered a Garrett to play around with. I know the properties where I hunt both have Indian history. Thought it would be fun to search for treasure while there scouting, moving stands, etc... Anyone have any tips? Find anything worth sharing?
Oh good grief, forget the Indians then, OK? There was an old homesite, and plenty of activity AFTER the Indians. Thanks again for your usual BS
It isn't BS just trying to help with goals and expectations and what to look for. Somewhat of a treasure hunter myself that knows where to look.
Don't own one but I watch a lot of metal detecting on youtube and it looks like fun. I have been thinking for a couple years about buying one, just never could bring myself to spend the money on one.
We bought the boy on for Christmas and he's found an old spoon and a civil war bullet (he's 11). So those were big deals for him. I have no tips, but we've had fun with it.
I had my White metal detector and use it regularly since 1984! Personally, I found the place to locate treasure is the old 1 room school houses...they were the center for most of the activities in the area. I've done a several logging camps, beaches and boy scout camps too, but the old schools were the biggest bang for the batteries.
I have one and have used it on the old mill on my place even found a old muzzle loader shotgun barrel. Check your local laws as not all states are the same.
I have a bounty hunter and my son and I have a blast with it. warning: it gets addicting. we look around volleyball courts, sandboxes at playgrounds and find lots of $$$. I have a mission to go to my late grandfathers homestead and look for his class ring. my relatives told me he lost it when he was washing his hands off in a bucket of water and it fell off without him knowing it. after washing he emptied the bucket of water in the weeds and lost the ring. I guess they looked for it but never found it. so I have a mission to find it soon.
I've watched them too, and can't wait to try it. I know my hunting properties have some real potential. You got a lot of land to work with yourself
That's pretty cool. Ever work over that property at all? Could have some old silver coins which I would love to find
