Doesn't affect my decision when buying a gun. Was always told the only safety is your finger when it comes to a CC.
No safety. For a 100% concealed carry gun, I'd much rather have a striker fired pistol with no safety and a 6-7ish pound trigger than a gun with a thumb safety and a hair trigger. I own a handful of handguns now that I've carried on and off over the past few years, but these days I pretty much exclusively carry my Glock 43 and 19 now because of this reason. There is enough pull on the trigger that there is no chance it's going off by accident, but I'm still plenty accurate at typical gun fight distances, plus I don't have a safety to worry about.
I love it. Truthfully I haven't carried my 19 since I got the 43. It's just a lot more comfortable to carry since it's thinner, plus I shoot it pretty well for being a small gun. I did install a set of Talon Grips on it to get a bit more contact and purchase on the gun but overall it's everything I want in a daily CC weapon. My wife just got her FOID and will be going through the CC training process soon. If she can handle it, we'll get her another 43. If not we'll go with the 42.
No safety for me. I have the same mindset as rick james. I love my G29 but on my small body it's not the easiest to CC, even tho I do carry it all the time. I really want a 43, like bad...: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is all personal preference, I will always tell a new gun buyer that desires a firearm that if it is something you have to have, get one with...rather them have one than not. Me personally nope, if it does have one and I'm carrying it that thing is off safety. I only want to worry about drawing and acquiring target if (heaven forbid) I have to draw ever. My Glock 19 and Bersa BP9CC (just bought a 2nd one actually) are my two main carry pieces, besides my everyday pocket .380 (cheap Keltec but reliable). Neither have an exterior safety, and the Bersa is around 4.5 lb trigger and the glock touch heavier. But I got the most important safeties; my finger and my brain.
I don't know. My wife carries a Sig P238. It has a safety. I don't personally have a carry gun even though I have my CCW. I don't feel like I would personally need a safety but I like the idea of having one. Eventually I'll get me a carry gun, just have seemed to have other priorities.
Shameless plug, but if you want another P238, shoot me a message.......I'm selling mine to pay for another 43.
Haha, If I wasn't saving up for my Saskatchewan hunt I might have been interested, but I'm going to have to squeeze ever penny I can for right now.
I carry Springfield xds with grip and trigger safetey. Pretty much if you grab the gun and pull the trigger it's going off but if the trigger gets hung or snagged and you arent gripping it, it wont. I like it alot
The P3AT goes bang when I need it to. Won't win ergo awards, and it has a terrible trigger but as a last resort pocket gun it fills the bill.
I'd prefer them not to have a safety but don't care if they do as long as it is designed in a way I can't accidentally bump it. It's what ever you are comfortable with. The most important thing is to always use it or not at all. It becomes a issue when you start switching back and forth.
