Not sure how many of yall caught the CMA's tonight but this guy completely stole the show in my opinion. He sung the following song with Justin Timberlake but here is the "original" - George Jones sung it first in the '80's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zAThXFOy2c
Good god get George Straight back, what is being played now on country radio is nothing more than pop music the awards show pretty much illustrated it with the over produced stage shows.
I don't typically watch award shows but I do enjoy the bantering between Carrie and Brad. Entertaining none the less
Agreed, I cant stand to watch it. I can tolerate some of the newer music but when that's said it's all said. 99.9% of it is terrible.
Even George Strait has given in to the "pop" influences in some of his newer music which I hate because his old stuff was great. I can't stand the Sam Hunt type and all of that but the Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake pairing was pretty awesome. Felt more like southern rock than pop/rap that so many are going to.
Actually, David Allan Coe sung it first. I hate it when people rip modern artists for covering a song when it's been going on for decades.
Check out Jason isbell, Sturgill Simpson and whiskey Myers if you want some good music..... and some good ol Roger Alan Wade for pure country.
I now completely understand why Alan Jackson and Toby Keith stay away they would probably hurt some feelings.
Even the way they dress makes me wonder what the hell is happening? If you wear a c'boy hat you wear the proper boots, not a fashion diva just a guy who has shoveled my share of horse crap.
I have been out of the music industry for a few years but it drives me crazy seeing these young guys and gals standing on the stage at the Ryman dressed like they just left a brothel. Its very disrespectful to the true country pioneers. Even the new Grand Ole Opry has a circle of wood on the stage from the old Ryman. But too many of the new up and comers couldnt tell you a thing about the history of country music.
I don't understand this argument. Why do they have to sound like country singers from 30 years ago? Just don't listen to it or look at them if you don't like it.
All that irks me is that they take one type of music and co-opt another genre with it rather than keeping them as two separate and well defined genres. When I turn on a radio to a country music station...that's what I want to hear, not some hip hop crap or a woman screaming at the top of her range for three and a half minutes. If I wanted that there have been stations dedicated to that sort of trash for decades, I could just go there. I don't care so much what the artists look like as long as they have talent and talent that actually belongs in the correct genre of music they are marketing though I do prefer a more clean cut looking person in general.
I love the good ole days discussions.. Back when cars were built right, music was good, society wasn't evil, and kids were safe to play outside.
