Made a trip down to Sampson County, NC this morning to hunt with a few friends from NC State. After watching birds all morning while the pork shoulders cooked, I thought this hunt was going to be a dud..only 8-12 birds on the lines at any given time and a few flyers every few minutes. We talked, everyone arrived, we had lunch and set into the field about 1pm. It was like the flip of a switch - birds everywhere. We had a steady 2 hour shoot until the rain rolled in, took a little break, ate some more and went back out after it let up a little. Another good hour and a half hunt until everyone was tired of shooting about 6pm. I wish everyone would have stuck around to get a picture of everyone's birds together, but much of the group left when it started raining. Following are a few pictures of those of us that stuck it out. Truly, an unforgettable hunt with good friends. 194 in these pictures. There's no way to even estimate how many we killed total. 3 rows deep
I never bothered to count but quite a few. I really enjoyed watching the 10 year old shoot and laugh when he knocked one down.
Good times! I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer here, but all hunters in your party should know EXACTLY how many birds they killed. the daily limit in NC is 15 per hunter. http://www.ncwildlife.org/Default.aspx?tabid=416&IndexId=9914
lol, That's a lot o birds. You sure they left because of the rain? I would have ran out of ammo. No telling how many shots were fired.... :p
Thank you, but I'm well aware of the NC regulations. When I said that there's no way know how many were killed total, I don't know how many people were hunting with us or if everyone limited out.
I didn't mean to imply that you didn't know the regs. My group was put through the wringer by a possibly overzealous warden earlier this week and I wouldn't want yuall (or anyone for that matter) to go through the same. We were not in violation of anything but he left no stone unturned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NOW i know why we didn't see much on our farms.... yall killed them before they flew over! Nice shooting Phil! That's going to be some GOOD eating!
haha thanks man. This was a different farm than the one I was texting you about on Saturday. Both days were pretty good but Monday was incredible
