Christmas day was beautiful in East Cobb/Roswell GA where I live, sunny and kind of warm... But all day long I didn't see one kid playing outside with his or her new toys... What did they get, a computer,a game system?
Does anyone buy their kids stuff that will get them off their butts and outside anymore? Sometimes I think parents are their kids worst enemy..

Most probably got money/gift cards and were shopping so they weren't on their butts.

Miriam (7) got her very own single shot .22. Michelle, (4) got a bicycle. (Moving up from a tricycle.) They don't play video games and we don't watch TV, although daddy and I will watch movies on the computer. (Netflix)

It was pretty rainy yesterday, but Michelle got her first bike riding lessons. A lot of the kids in our neighborhood play outside.

To put it all in perspective the video game industry now brings in more revenue than all of Hollywood does making movies.

My son got a quad. Many kids were outside yesterday where I am. Dirtbikes, scooters, and bikes everywhere. Depends on where you live I guess.

He's been into muscle cars since he was old enough to walk, my father in law brought him to a car show and he's been hooked ever since! He saved up for 3 years, we told him save up $1000 and we'll chip in the rest! This pic was from this past summer

My daughter had me out in that perfect GA weather Christmas morning flinging arrows. She didn't get a new bow for Christmas, but she did get a few accessories and a new target.

Out of all the stuff she received, she still grabbed her bow for a little practice time.

Martinhunter where abouts in Roswell do you I used to live up there and I couldn't find a bowfin ring community.

My 2 year old got a corn hole set (mini) a golf club set(mini) and two different size rubber balls to kick and throw around. I just have to say my kid although she is just two years old she loves playing out side. My wife and I pride ourselves on the fact that she doesn't watch that much tv or have a tablet or is attached to anything electronic.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when I see kids that are clearly intelligent enough to use a tablet or iPhone or some other tech when they could apply some thinking power to making something. Seriously when's the last time you saw some kids building a fort.

Have you tried playing video games? Pretty fun if you ask me.

If the older generations were born into this time of technology they would be the same.

I don't understand why the younger generations use of technology scares y'all. I grew up loving the outdoors hunting, fishing, you name it. I also grew up playing xbox and online games. Now I'm a Senior in Computer Science applying to jobs with the highest averge starting salary in the nation. Everything has it's time and place. So what if a kid wants to play inside all day on christmas? That doesn't mean he's not still a normal kid.

Not necessarily true. I'm 30. I grew up playing video games as a kid (albeit not near as much as most do today and not with the same technology). Once I started hunting, and especially once I got my license, I played very little. Haven't played anything but the occasional Wii game in 8 years. I just can't get into it.

It's not for everyone and there's definitely kids that don't play it as much. But my point was that older adults (30 is still young in my book) will look down on the kids playing these games. If they were raised in this time, a majority would be texting, tweeting, gaming, etc.
