So many of you in here know im active duty Marine Corps. I have finally been selected after 3 years of trying to go be a drill instructor. It has been a goal of mine ever since enlisting. I feel it is my way of giving back to the Marine Corps after all they have done for me and my family. I am blessed to receive orders to DI school. So with a 3 year tour coming up I know hunting will be out of the question as I can't turn civilians into Marines without putting 110% into them from the day they get there until graduation. I will be actively posting through deer season this year but shortly after will be executing my orders. Anyone else have any long term goals they are about to reach?
Slugger, good luck. I meet Drill Instructors in the army and you will work some long hours. Not quite sure ive met someone who has sought after it, but hey good for you. Im about to embark on my long term goals, ill tell ya 3 years from now if they all pan out.
A guy I work with on the force was a Marine Corps DI for four years. He retired about two years ago. Great guy. Best of luck to you.
Good luck going forward Slugger. Hope it's everything you want it to be. Stay safe and thanks for your service to our country.
Congrats on the orders and good luck. I spent my 21st birthday in DI school at Parris Island back in the 70's, I was an over achiever back in them days. Some of the best friends in my life were in that class.
Congrats and good luck. Get ready for 100 hour weeks and no time off. Spent three years at Parris Island late 70's into early 80's. One of the best tours I spent in the Corps and wouldn't trade it for anything. Semper Fi.
Thank you for your service and willingness to give back. Oorah! No worries, I'm sure a few of us will kill a deer or two in your honor. When you are finished and back to civilian life it will make hunting that much more exciting for you! Carry on.
Few people will leave a more lasting impression on someone than their DI. I can remember all 5 of mine like it were yesterday.good luck
Ditto. Slugger - Make sure those rifle muzzles are always pointed down range!!! And... Best of luck to you
Slugger,I m glad you got it.Sounds like a ride but a fun ride.Make us some proud soldiers that ll serve this country with pride and honor!
Slugger, Good luck, both in the upcoming season and your upcoming assignment. It's no small task you have ahead of you. My hat is off to you. I'm a retired Navy Chief, not a Marine, so I can't and won't say "Semper Fi", but I can say that I wish you the best and I wish you "fair winds and following seas."
Slugger, you have taken on a great responsibility and I commend you for doing so. Over the next three years you'll be molding slugs into America's finest. They in turn will affect those they are stationed with and their families and friends. The tidal wave of change that will be your charge is no small matter. God bless from just one of many in a grateful nation.
Congrats. I was a drill sergeant in the Army training infantryman from 2010-2012. The hours can be horrible but the trainees/recruits quickly learn which cadre members care and which ones are just collecting a paycheck. You make a lot bigger impact by putting 100% into it and being one of the ones that really cares.
Semper Fi brother, are you going to Paris island or San Diego? There's some good hunting spots close to both places!! But I definitely feel ya on the lack of time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
