My wife and I put an offer on a house. Its not my dream homr but I dont expect that from my first home. Cant believe im doing this. Its scary that im going to add more debt but im tired of giving my landlord about as much a minth as I will for this mortgage. Never thought my lige would be going in the path it is. 23 years old, been married 2 years, have a 15 month old daughter and another baby on the way. I love giving my family the best I can and I bust my *** everyday!

Awesome man, hope you guys get it. Sounds like you're working really hard for your family and I give you props not many guys your age could do that. Im 20 and I think I'm working pretty and hope to be son the right path by 23 but I know a lot of guys back home who will still be at home with their parents at that age. So again good for you and I hope the house works outs. :tu:

    Congrats man

Owning a house is a blessing and curse. Always have an emergency fund of a few thousand that you do not touch set aside for when the inevitable happens.

Good luck on the offer. Hope you get the house.

Just to confirm what you have probably already considered, a lot of expenses your landlord paid will now be covered by you. We've been married going on seven years and since I moved in, we've had to put on new roof for $4700. We have a tree that puts roots in the sewer - have to root it out once a year - $200. We also need new carpeting. There's other stuff too. Best thing is to set aside a maintenance fund to cover those expenses.

But owning your own home is really cool. I, luckily, just fell into it. My husband, the day after we were married signed the house and our cabin up North over to us as a married couple, so now it's mine just as much as his.

Congratulations - it's going to be a real thrill.

Good luck getting the house! Just bought mine a little over a year ago. Like Hooker said, try to have a decent chunk of $$ for a "just in case" fund.

All great advice. I just finished building my first house. I new going in about what it would cost. But there are always things you don't think of that can cost a lot of money.

Good job, I'm 24 now and looking to buy a place within 2 years time. I'd like to rent it out to some buddies to start off in order to help w/ the mortage payments but eventually I guess I'll be forced to get married and become boring.

Awesome! Congratulations on the first home! We bought our first home in 2009 as a "starter" and we're still here:D It's an experience, that's for sure. Wouldn't trade it for rent, though!

Props to you dude. Not very many 23 year old dudes are half the man that you are. Especially here in Cali. Land of beautiful women and sissy "men". I'm envious tho. I work my tail off too and just don't see owning a Cali home in my future ever. Well maybe someday but no time soon. Hit me up for any plumbing related questions. I know my crap. Hahaha
