Is the purpose of the large peeps just for better light into the peep? And just personal preference? I have a 1/4 meta peep that came with my bow that I'm thinking about trying out when my new strings come in.

I match my peep to my sight housing. I shoot a 1/4 peep and my sight housing is 2" This is so my sight housing is perfectly in line with my peep at full draw. If you have a smaller housing and a larger peep, you will have to center your whole sight housing in the peep. Just one more thing that has the chance of not being consistent and I try to be as consistent as possible. I know guys that shoot smaller sight housings with 1/4 peeps though, so guess it is all preference also. Try it out and see how you like it.

I was hoping to get everything in line with the 1/4 peep because right now with my smaller peep it's not.. But I was also looking for other reasons people may use the peep. I used to have a dovetail and moved it to line things up but I've since switched to a tommy hog and it has no dovetail so my peep & sight don't line up anymore.

I have 1/4 string splitter, can see damn near everything...

Starting the thinking though, I might go back to a regular peep and make fit my sight housing like mentioned up above. Dunno yet..

I have a size up from that, I think it is 5/16th, with my anchor point the prep is further from my eye and this makes the aperture appear smaller so it perfectly fits my sight.

I had 1/4 inch peep in there but it was too small and I could not see the outer ring of the sight.
