Arrow damage

I noticed a crack at the nock of one of my arrows while I was shooting a few nights ago and was wondering if I glued the nock in and wrapped it with a QuickFletch if it would be shootable. I don't think that I have the room to cut it out, unless I passed it onto one of the boys.

 

i wouldnt risk it the thought of an exploding arrow going through my hand/lower forearm on my non dominant arm scares me too much

 

Not worth the risk, think of dropping a 70lb weight on the end of that arrow and then put your face and arms right by that arrow when that weight is dropped??? That is what an arrow undergoes when it is fired from a bow. For a $10 shaft, ditch it and get a new one.

 

A new arrow is cheaper than potentially multiple surgeries to dig carbon out of your arm.

 

I was leaning that way. I just wanted to see what the consensus was. Thanks for the input guys!

Not to sound too selfish but I like my arm and hands splinter free way too much to shoot one that has any sort of a crack in it.

I salvage most anything except for damaged carbon arrows. as everyone rightly stated above the risk simply isn't worth it.

 

Yep I would trash it, I throw away at least 2 arrows a week when im shooting a lot keep the nock insert if its not damaged, but don't risk a lot more damage trying to save a few dollars

 

you have 3270 post and have been on this site sense 2012. Not trying to come off as a jerk, but really dude? never risk injury to save a couple bucks. if you question the safety of it. just dont do it.

 

Didn't come off as a jerk. It was a dumb question. I ended up ordering another half dozen that night and it ended up in the garbage pile..
