I'm looking into getting some new shafts after turkey seasons up. I'm currently using Easton Axis 340's but I'm pretty underspined and cannot get my bow to tune with fixed broadheads. I can shoot mechs fine but none of my fixed broadheads. So I'm looking for an 30inch arrow for my Mathews monster MR6 29/70.. I'm open to any and all brand of arrows, and looking for a slightly heavier shaft with good FOC. Thanks all.
I haven't put them through an animal yet but I really like the carbon express pile driver pass through xtremes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Easton axis 260 w/ 75 grain brass inserts would work I think. Be pretty heavy with decent foc in my opinion. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Zelor - About Stopping power right there. Micro diameter arrows that are made in Australia. We use them to hunt things up to and including buffalo. Check them out mate.
If they still made the ACC's I would have thrown them in the mix too. I have shot a lot of animals very successfully with Easton axis nano's 340's too but I am shooting at 60#'s with a 28.5" draw and use either a 100 or 125 grain broadhead.
Axis 300 with 50 gr insert. ACC 3-71 YES they do still make them. IMO the best shaft ever made. It has been around since 1991...must be good. I am still killing things with the ACCs I bought in about 1992. A/C/C Carbon Fiber Target Arrow | Easton Archery
Seems like a lot of people like the Fmj/ axis arrows. I've never shot FMJ but have looked into them, but I do shoot the axis 340's and love them. I'll have to look around to see if anyone local carries the 300's or 260 spine axis, I really enjoyed that arrow but never thought about using a brass insert with it. With FMJ's how the durability?
I've heard people complain about the FMJs bending since they are aluminum/carbon. I would check out the Piledriver Hunters and Piledriver Pass Thru Extremes.
my arrow length is several inches shorter so can't advise on a particular arrow but seems to me unless the shaft is forward weighted, that FOC is primarily the result of the weight of fletching/wrap/knock versus the forward weight of the insert/ any added weight/ and the broadhead. when you pick arrow stiffness from the chart take into account the added weight to the front if you go the brass insert and/or added weights or if you use a heavier weight broadhead.
