Sorry if this is a dumb question but I bought some Easton FMJ's off ebay and they have feather fletches on them. They seem to fly great for me with my current compound setup so far and I was wondering if anyone in here does the same? Disadvantages?

I use feathers too but I'm really old school shooting, gasp!, aluminum shafts.

To me, the only disadvantage is you have to keep them waterproofed.

Any tips to keeping them "waterproofed"? or you just make a point to keep them dry?

I have been a feather guy for years. Best waterproofing for me is Atsko Silicone Water-Guard Arrow Treatment, the liquid with the little dauber. Or you can use the spray.

No idea the brand waterproofing I have. It's 20 plus years old. And like Whitetail's it has the little brush. Mine has a smell to it so make sure you check that and get them done a few days prior to hunting.

When I used feathers I wrapped them with Saran wrap. Very old school.

I have used feathers all along. I don't do anything to weather proof them. They fly fine even wet.

I try to avoid smashing the feathers down when they're wet. If they get a bit frazzled looking, just fluff them back up as they dry.

Bohning makes a powder you waterproof feathers with.

I have Gateway feather waterproof powder which works fine. I've used the Razr 2 inch feather fletching for many years as well as the Blazer vane and between the two think the feather is much more forgiving if the fletching makes contact with something.
