Been doing this for years. I also use my climber to hang the stand. Much easier than standing on sticks or steps.

Would technically be illegal in some places if on public land.

I would use the cheap tree strap that comes with stands and hang a hook off it that to hold the stand up. Also adjustable if you discover you want to move the stand higher or lower.

But if you can get up the tree with a climber why would you not just hunt with a climber ??

Fair question. I only use a climber if necessary due to quick change of location or new spot, etc. I feel more secure in a hang on or ladder. Also quieter and less fatigue.

For me it is because then I only have to carry my stand in one time. Not every time I hunt. I am lucky though, I hunt 400+ acres of private land. I can set/built as many stand as I want.
