I have always used a bow case when transporting my bow and equipment in the truck. I have been looking to purchase a Lakewood case for this upcoming season. Anyone have opinions ???
I am not familiar with Lakewood, but the biggest thing I would say is just make sure you get a hard material case(plastic or metal), not of that soft crap
Absolutely love the Lakewood Cases! Been using them for years and they have only gotten better with design. The accessory case and arrow case are awesome and will come in way more handy then you think they will! I have a few of them and won't use anything else!
I like the idea of not having to take my quiver off and can access everything quick without taking up so much room.
Here is the video Justin did last year with Steve at Lakewood reviewing the case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd6nE3e42qQ
I use a Cabela's Tactical Compound bow case. Bow, arrows, and other asundry gear fit in nicely. It's light and easy to use for the quick trips to the range and weekends at the cabin. Of course I want a nice Lakewood case someday, but I just don't need one right now.
I just use the back seat of my truck. Soft, easy and no need to take off quiver. But I only have a 1 mile drive. I also have a Plano (without the pillar lock things) that my bows fit in without having to remove the quiver. If I travel father or put my bow on the back of my ATV that I use. I bought a backup at Walmart last January for $20...couldn't pass up the deal. http://www.planomolding.com/1010630.html
Nice that you can do that in Wisconsin but in Illinois it must be cased at all times when in a vehicle. Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
I haven't put my bow in a hard case in years. Unless you're traveling long distances with your bow in the bed of your truck or flying I really see no point in them. My bow typically rides in the back seat of my truck on the floor in either a Plano or Blacks Creek soft case. I've also put it in the bed of the truck as well with no problems. Unless you're competing in autocross or mud bogging events with your bow in your truck I don't see how a padded soft case wouldn't work for you. Hard cases are big, bulky, and heavy. Mine is currently collecting dust in my garage where it will stay until I need it to fly to Wyoming next month.
Do you carry it in a hard case while you walk to your stand or sitting in your stand? Because something is more likely to happen to it then. I get what you're saying, but the soft cases out now are just more convenient and practical.
