Ok I have some new easton axis 340 cut at 27.5. I have the normal 16 g insert and the brass 50 grain. The foc with 50 is around 15 % and 450 total weight. the 16 it's 12 % and 415 total weight. At 450 gains I get 275 fps. I don't know what the 415 will be. Think the foc is too much?

Definitely not too much. As long as your spine is fine.

What I have read is the FOC range is 8/16 so 15 is good I have 12.5 I would go heavier vs lighter

I think that sounds about perfect.I have heard of pros going as high as 25% in really long range competions.

Ok great thanks guys makes me feel better. Keep it simple for me the new arrows will weight the same as the last set. I needed to break down the spine a little. Was right at the board for 400 or 340.

I personally feel 15% or a bit more is perfect. As others have mentioned, as long as your spine is still good. Its almost always better to be a bit stiff on spine than weak. My setup, based on charts places me well into the "overspined" category, however with broadheads, it shoots like a dream.

Always heard 12%-18% was optimal for broadhead flight.
