Well I'm in lack of knowledge when it comes to drop-aways I had a truglo downdraft and quite liked it, sold it on my infinite edge because i'm getting a hoyt nitrum 34 in the coming couple of weeks. with how speedy this new bow is gonna be I need a good drop away, preferably something that's not too much more than 100$ I hear the trophy takers are badass, but is it really worth the extra like 50 bucks? Or should I just stick with a ripcord or HDX, something along those lines would be good. Just tell me what you guys have had experience with in the past and what you think of them. merry huntmas!
I can tell you this much, I used the NAP Apache for over a year and it was a great rest. But I just switched to the QAD Ultrarest and it is amazing. I like how the arrow cannot come out of the rest no matter what angle you hold the bow!
I've owned both. Prefer the smackdown by far. But I'm partial to my newest rest. Limbdriver micro elite. Best rest I've ever used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What did you not like about the Apache? Just curious because I bought a used one at a great price but was looking at the HDX before buying the Apache.
I currently have a ripcord on my bow, I like it it's what I had on my previous bow as well, but I think if I was to buy a new rest again id go with a qad hdx.
I currently own two bows... One has a QAD HDX and the other a Trophy Taker Smackdown Pro... I have done most of my hunting with the TT Smackdown Pro just because I love how my bow shoots with that rest... But I do really like the HDX and some of the features it provides - like being able to set the rest in the upright position before the shot and that it won't go down on a slow let down... Either are great rests...
I bought a Hoyt Faktor 30 last March and use the QAD HDX and love it! I have not had one problem. As others have stated the rest can be set in the upright position while hunting, fully enclosing the arrow which is great.
I didn't necessarily not like anything about the Apache. Actually the only reason I have a QAD is I bought my new HTR and the bow shop gave me one for free. That being said, the Apache is kind of loud when you have to undraw the bow. My arrow would bounce around a little. And the only other downfall is the arrow can fall out of the rest if you have to hold the bow at a weird angle (upside down to maneuver for a shot). The Apache Carbon might combat the previous flaw though. Both great rests, but I'm loving the QAD and how light it is as well as the 'cock and forget it' they call it.
Thanks. I may look at the QAD again. I'm assuming its pretty easy to tune with so many folks using it.
Thanks, unless the bow shop tells me otherwise I'll pick one up tomorrow when i'm getting my nitrum 34 set up.
