Anyone carry a multi-tool? I used to carry a pocket knife but I just simply got sick of having pockets full of equipment keys and a knife and various other things.

Seems like lately though I'm always needing a pair of pliers, a knife, etc...basically a multi-tool. Thinking I don't mind carrying my cell phone on my belt, maybe I'd be fine carrying a multi-tool. It would sure be handy.

Problem is there are so many to choose from, good grief...I had a leatherman years ago and hated the uncomfortably sharp plier handles. Looks like the Leatherman Charge has fixed that problem and I like the gut hook on the one model. The TTI version is effin expensive though, like $170?! Not sure I'm that impressed with it.

    What's everyone's thoughts on multi-tools?

Same as on a pocket knife for me....something cheap, because I will lose it.

Leatherman Skeletool love this thing! Has a bit set you can buy for just about anything, pliers, knife, and bottle opener (of course). It is way smaller than others I have had use it everyday:D

Simple and works. I've had it for the last 8 years and it's yet to fail.[IMG][IMG]

I've been carrying a leatherman wave with a pocket clip for the past year. Love it. Decent size knife, and I always need pliers for something.

I carry a SOG multi tool. I'm attaching a link to it. This tool is hands down better than leatherman. The gears that actuate the pliers allow you to have more cutting power. The first time I used it, the driver drove over a downed barbwire fence and got the wire wrapped around the tires and brake lines. This little tool saved our ***. My leatherman couldn't cut the barbedwire. I've had mine for about 6 years now. Haven't seen any other that will perform like the SOG.

Thank you for taking the time to read. http://www.sogknives.com/everyday-carry/multi-tools/powerlock-satin.html

I've carried a Gerber for 20 years. Amazing I've not lost it yet. Not too expensive, never failed me and very handy. They have several models to choose from.

Buy a gerber. Good quality and not as expensive. I just found a good sale on one for $25.

I've been looking at them all a lot lately. I think so far this is my wish list in order.
    1. Leatherman Charge Tti
    2. SOG PowerAssist
    3. Leatherman Wave
    4. Gerber Diesel
    5. Leatherman OHT
    6. Leatherman Supertool 300
    7. Leatherman MUT
    8. Leatherman Skeletool
    9.Leatherman Wingman
    10. Leatherman Squirt

#'s 2 through 4 are basically tied for me right now....#1 is #1 but too expensive. I'm just not sure I want to spend that kind of money on something I'll likely lose.

The charge tti is expensive but definitely worth the money!! The steel on the knife is very strong and holds an edge all tools lock it's weighted perfectly it's a perfect size and it has very useful tools.. The included pocket clip is what I use and I would never get a different tool.. If you really can't spend the money get the leatherman wave.. Also a very nice tool just not made with as strong materials.. Good starter though

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
I just ordered a Leatherman Charge TTi with the leather sheath and 40 bit set. I bought a cheapo Schrade the other day and it's utter crap but I was in a store and it was next to the checkout lane, I thought it looked neat and was cheap so I picked it up. I was right...it's cheap, lol.

I was looking at them all again a minute ago on Amazon, figured WTH...my birthday was last week and I didn't get myself anything so I added to cart and checked out. We'll see what it looks like, supposed to have it Saturday.

Yes! I received my Leatherman Charge today just as expected. I love it! Worth the money...mmm dunno about that. I mean it's awesome and all but it was $169. Pretty ridiculous price for a multi-tool to be honest. It is, in every way...an obvious step up from any other multi-tool I've ever handled though. The tools come out by the each, no more all or nothing when you pull on one that's the one you get. Knives are easily accessible from the outside with it closed, very nice. Material is pretty awesome and the grip on the pliers is very comfortable. It is obviously a "top of the line" tool across the board but like everything else these days you really...REALLY pay for it. It's nice if you have the dough to spend, this is the only thing I indulged on for my birthday so I guess it's justifiable, plus it's something I need every day for work so there's that. I'm satisfied with it and would recommend it to anyone that can overlook the price for something that's extremely nice quality.
