I'll start by saying for the past five years I've been shooting my Ross cardiac 60# 28" with gold tip XT's weighing in around 370 gr. this has always been a killer shooting setup but left something to be desired when hitting a deer (only 2 out of 8 complete passthroughs). This year due to a cracked limb and form changes I'll be shooting with a 29" draw and 70# limbs. I'm also wanting to get near a 500 gr arrow. What are the advantages and disadvantages going to be? I'm hoping for a way harder hitting setup and hopefully not lose to much speed. Tech guys help me out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A quick punch into a calculator has me losing about 12-15 GPS but gaining close to 14 ft lbs of KE if that helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With that set up, I think you would be fine going with about 430 to 450 gr and still have plenty of both speed and KE. I shoot 68lb 28in with a 420 gr arrow and seem to do just fine. Just my .02. Might be something to consider tho
Disadvantages: more arrow drop (non issue for me). Advantages: quieter bow more momentum = more penetration

I'm thinking GT traditions 11gpi at 29 in with 100 grain slick tricks. That's around 450 all togather, debating the 50gr inserts after that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
