What small diameter shafts are you shooting?

So I've been hunting with VAP V1's for a good 4-5 years now. While the shafts themselves are amazing tolerance wise and I really like the Bohning F nock system, I'm tired of dealing with and replacing expensive bent Penetrator outserts. When I say bent, these things are bending just by impact with targets, it's not like I'm missing and putting them in the ground or trees, etc........

What small diameter shafts are you using? Anyone find something they really like that has both great tolerances for the shaft and a great component system?

Does anyone have experience with the Deep Six Injexions? I hate the idea of having to unload all my regular Killzones and getting new Deep Six ones but I'm REALLY tired of dealing with these penetrator inserts.......

I'm with you. I love the VAP's but the inserts are pretty crappy.

I hate outserts, I tried the Vaps, two different types of firenocks outserts as well as GT outsert...nothing holds up.

Now I only use HITS and then build a footing on the shafts. Haven't had any issues since then.
If you search on here you you find an extensive conversation about footing, and how to build them.

I switch arrows a lot for work due to testing. I recently tested FMJ's and they will be my hunting arrows this year for sure.

I'm switching to CX Piledrivers for my trophy elk hunt this year, looking for max penetration. I shot Trophy Ridge Wrath 350s a couple of seasons ago - really liked the shaft, really hated the "outserts".

Go to ACC' s and you get the best of both worlds, smaller diameter shafts and standard inserts.
Not to mention the most consistently rated spines on hunting arrows around.

GT Kentics are another good smaller diameter shaft. Except you will need to use HITS with them, and if you take the time to foot them you can make a really tuff smaller heavy shaft.

I'm a big fan of ACC's. Tried and true. However, you guys had me reading up on building footings. Pretty cool. Learn something new every day.

Thanks for the info guys. I've shot a lot of ACC's, ACE's, and X10's over the years for field and FITA, and while their tolerances are excellent I'm really wanting a pure carbon shaft for my hunting arrows, I'm not interested in a FMJ or ACC. Ideally I'd like to buy 2-3 dozen that are weight matched and have them last a few years, and I've just not had great experience with any carbon/aluminum arrows lasting a really long time and taking a lot of abuse.

I think I'm going to try and setup some VAP's with a deep six insert and footing. I really like their tolerances and nock systems, and I get them for ridiculous cheap pricing right now. They are also lighter than a lot of comparable thin diameter arrows and I'd like to keep the total arrow setup around 430-450gr total as I'll be using these out of a new RPM360 that I'm setting up at only around 60lbs.

I am still shooting C2 carbons. I much prefer Easton Supernocks over anything else out there.

Gold tip kinetic. Outserts work fine, and I've sent them into war.
