    I have a nice Forge cw33 bow that I bought new in 2003. Its been in storage for years and I just started shooting again but it needs new cable and strings. I called the manufacturer to learn that the cam lean (single cam) that it has is normal and of no concern. I also asked about strings and was told they can send me a full set guaranteed to be a direct replacement for $70

    My delema is weather or not to go a different aftermarket rout like this Stone Mountain Titanium Split Yoke Cable for the cable and the string is also around $25.

    Would they be much better quality than the ones from the manufacturer?

    The stock ones did last 10 years and in its first 6 years it saw thousands of shots.

    The lengths are marked on the limbs. What are the chances of ordering strings online that will fit?

    Thanks for your help;
    Chris

    Generally, aftermarket custom strings are of a better quality than factory.

    No Factory strings. PM Hutch~n~Son archery on here. He owns Bow String Depot, link is in my signature. He makes some great strings and customer service is great!!!! He has also made a lot of strings for members on here. Even if you don't buy from Bill, check out other custom builders.

    I could give you a list of builders who build top quality stuff....Generally speaking aftermarket are ALWAYS gonna be better than factory strings as long as the builder knows his stuff. Now granted, they might take a little longer to get and sometimes cost a few $$ more but in the end it's worth it. Most all custom string builders pre-stretch longer than a factory string so that means less shoot in time & less chances of bad peep rotation. Also they tend to use better quality materials for the string & servings than mass produced strings. You'll also notice on custom built strings the end & center servings will be a lot better quality with less chance of slipping & seperation.

    Thanks for the replys. I found bowstringdepot.com in some other treads on here the day I asked the question and planned on going that route. Looks like his package deal for a single cam like mine is $60 so with shipping it might even be a little cheaper.

    Agreed....no factory strings

    10 years is way too long to go on any string IMO
    If you need a string that won't rotate, stretch or move, PM me here...
    $70 shipped

    Customs are built to specs where mass produce are not. They set a machine to do all the work. Where we build customs by hand and to specs with more time involved. Also your choice of top of the line materials and colors.
