Being a new archer/hunter I am somewhat leaning towards the field logic IQ retina lock sight. I am thinking this sight will help me maximize my practice and force me to shoot with proper form...Any thoughts or suggestions?

I bought the 4 pin version of that, haven't mounted it on the bow or shot it yet, but It seems very durable out of the package.

    Aralbright25,

I currently shoot the IQ bow sight. It is a quality made sight and once mounted can indeed help you extend your range. Just be sure to read the instructions to set it up the first time. Adjust your 20 yard pin to where you want it then set your retina lock. Once this is done you can set the rest of your pins. I was very skeptical but after using it was very happy. I center my entire sight in my peep and can still clearly see the retina. Yes you are supposed to be able to get rid of the peep with this but old habits die hard and I like the secondary point of reference. I usually prefer to shot Spott-Hogg sights but using the Field Logic sight has definitely improved the size of my groups.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. I am definitely no expert but I will try to help if I can.

thanks for the help guys. I'm going to the sportsman show Thursday if i don't spot a deal there i will be ordering the 5 pin from bowhunters international when i get back. I'm just itching to start practicing with my new bow, in addition to all the other stuff I need to learn/teach myself before hunting season this fall. It seems like bowhunting.com has plenty of advice and knowledge to offer.

Well I was told by my local archery shop that the retina loc sight was to advanced for a beginner. Since I want to start shooting asap. I ended up buying a tru glo carbon xs 4 pin (.19) from them. Got my bow setup and picked up some cheap beater arrows (gold tip expedition hunters, probably going to get some CE maxima reds closer to hunting season) just need a quiver, release, and target of some sort. Eventually I will have to pick out broad heads at some point too.
