I'm getting a new string put on my bow and I was wondering about the best peep to put back on. I have had a tube peep for a couple of years now. I was thinking of the wheel type. Any ideas on witch is better.
Do a search on the whisper peep. I got one this year and it is an awesome peep. I have tried the string splitter jr and g5 meta peep but I really like the whisper the best. Plus it's a string silencer
G5 Meta if you don't have an issue with string twist. Get whatever size it takes to frame your sight ring. They should appear the same size at full draw. It's another anchor point check.
Muzzy man nailed it, make sure the frame is what you see. I just switched to a META peep, the string does twist a little. I don't know if that will occur on a new string. My string is original from a 2010 Martin Cheetah. I am due for a new one after turkey season. Aim small, miss small. Good luck. Mike Sent from my iPhone
I have posted before that if you use a loop, you can save the tag ends of your loop (1/4 inch) and serve them down on your string in alignment with your peep to make sure the loop doesn't turn. Last resort though.
G5 Meta as muzzy man said. Try to get your peep and your sight housing to appear the same diameter. With a GOOD QUALITY set of strings you should NEVER have problem with peep rotation.
Thanks for the input. I'm gonna check out the both types. The big thing I learned is the matching the size to my sight ring. I shoot a single pin HHA 5519 with a small ring.
Muzzy man - do you have a picture of what you are describing? Gander Mountain put my peep on, maybe I can show them what you did. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone
I originally had a tube on mine several years back and will never use one again and when my girlfriend got her bow last summer that was the first thing I replaced. I always found the tube to be very annoying and distracting but a major issue is once your up in a tree and you go to draw your bow you find out the tube broke on your way into the stand by hooking it on a bush or something similar! I also have the Meta peep and have been very happy with it. I do have a little string twist but was able to correct it by turning my d-loop just a hair so when I draw it straightens out the peep.
I am sorry it took me a while to get back. No I don't have a pic and it is usually not required but sometimes there is a little too much string turning inside the loop and it just doesn't quite line up and it always seems to happen at full draw on a deer. Here is what I have done... but only when this is a problem. I tie my loop on as normal but instead of cutting the tag ends of the knot, I simply serve them down tightly on to the string to make sure the string cannot twist inside the loop. That makes sure your loop stays in alignment with your peep every shot, even as some stretch, wear and tear begins to occur.
