At the moment, it is nothing more then day dreaming. But I have been considering making a move in the next 2-3 years, and Tennessee is looking like a good option. If things go as planned, I will be working in Ohio next year, and hopefully for a long time after that. When Ohio slows down, work will most likely move south, TX or OK. With that job, I will work 2 weeks on then get 2 off, my 2 on will be living on site, so will not need to live near work. If anything, I think the best bet is to move between OH and TX. Tenn is a lot closer to OH, but still should be able to drive to TX in a day if needed. And moving much closer gets me to close to tornadoes for me (Tenn has more then enough for my comfort level Im sure). Was looking more eastern Tenn, Northeast of Knoxville around the lakes probably. Land prices arnt insane (yet), and the fishing options would be amazing.

So, guess one of the big questions is how is the hunting out there? Im a PA hunter, not Iowa, so dont expect to see 10+ P&Y bucks a year. But in most areas is the herd pretty strong? Decent bucks?

The other part of the question is how is the over all living in Tenn? Taxes, gun laws, politics, etc. Are you happy with your state over all?

And my last would be jobs. I would be moving there with the job I explained above. But say it doesnt work out long term like Id hope, would it be hard to find decent paying jobs? Probably entree level, as my oilfield experience wouldnt get me to far there lol. Thanks a ton in advance.

I love it....Middle southern TN is eat up with deer. You can shoot 4 does per day in that unit if you want...lol. 3 bucks a year. Cheap cost of living. I live in Cumberland County now. Grew in up in Fentress County. I'm about an hour from the good unit. There is a lot of deer here in my unit as well. Nothing like up North where their huge though. Great place to live and hunt IMO. The TWRA has got deer season great IMO. You can go to the TWRA website and get an idea on the seasons. As far as hogs go...not many at all here. Gun laws are great here, Tornado's are more in middle, west TN. Jobs are decent if you someone wants to work, you can find one.

Not real hard really, just gotta put in for it. They also have a Archery only hunt there. Can't remember the Dates, lots of big buck on that area. Around here, there is not what I'd call a ton of Archery guys.

I like Middle/Eastern TN a lot. Love living here. Lots of good people, very friendly folks for sure. Not real hard to find a hunting place. I mainly hunt on my land, but go others places some. I got hunt on the Corp. land in Smith county some during bow season. LOTS more deer in unit L. Like I said earlier, you can kill 4 does a day if you want. The Deer seem to be bigger in unit A. Here is a buck my friend killed 4 years ago in Unit B in Fentress county. Net was 147 6/8" Which is a great deer for here.

Awesome man!! Thats a great buck for sure! Yeah I dont need giants. Id be happy with 110-120" for the most part. As long as Im seeing deer in the mean time and have the occasional big boy to keep me dreaming lol. I hunt NE PA now, in a very good county but not like Iowa here lol. So my expectations wouldnt be crazy. Id be more moving there for the fishing, and the ability to own land...the shorter winters are awesome also! Here the owning land thing isnt really an option any more, and the fishing stinks lol.

Fishing is great here...at least I think it is...lol. There is all kinds of land for sale here I seen. I live out in the country. Never lived in a sub division. There are sub divsion's in town. Which Crossville isn't exactly too big...lol. Archery isn't real big where I live...at least I don't meet many other bow hunters. I think you would like living here. Just a different type of people I guess. I've worked up North some. Not where your from, but like IL, OH, MI, Indiana. People are just different, Not bad by any means, just not as friendly I guess is how I can say it...lol.
