What state is the best option out of these:

    Tennessee
    West Virginia
    Virginia
    Kentucky

As far as regulations, bag limits, deer heard, terrain, pressure and most important...land prices.

Animals pursued would be Deer, Turkey and possibly Bear.

Its never too soon to plan, and me and a few of my buddies have been dabbling with the idea for a few months now. Were not where we need to be financially, but within 2-3 years well probably have enough to get started. We already exhaust our Ohio hunting opportunities (1 buck state) and want a place to take our future children (scary I know).

Only hunted VA out of your choices. We have a 6 deer limit 3 can be bucks. 2 turkey and 1 bear. Some areas of the state have monsters. Public land is heavily hunted. Land is fairly cheap in most areas away from the cities. If you get a decent amount of land you could grow some big ones. Many clubs in surry have a rule where you cant shoot a buck if you could fit his antlers in one of those white buckets so many deer taken around there are very big. Deer size is a big difference then the northern states meaning body weight is a bit less here too. Good luck

Average terrain in Va is very similar to MD. Out west it is all mountains, plains/flatlands in the central part and swamps/marshes/beach on the east coast. West VA is all mountains. Hardwoods, steep terrain and an orange army from hell. Out of those listed, I would choose Kentucky. It's a place I've never hunted but it sounds the most promising.

Kentucky seems to have the best trophy potential from what I have seen.

Too far away from Ohio. Im looking for somewhere I can get to in 5-6 hours.

Wisconsin would be awesome though, for sure.

Siman I would say Kentucky. I can't remember the limit but when I was stationed at Campbell there were some really nice deer taken on post, and eastern Kentucky has some great land with mixed terrain of fields and rolling hills.

The big woods off to the left of the circled area in red (where I hunt) is leased out yearly and may be available hwre in western ky when you're ready. I know they are getting pictures of good ones but I haven't seen them take one yet.

Oh, wait, what am I saying. There is no deer in ky

Ky has the best trophy buck potential for sure...i also like that the archery season opens early in sept. Habitat and terrain are ideal for hiding big whitetails. If you go to the eastern part of the state...there's always those bugling elk...plus lots and lots of small game and coyotes to keep an itchy trigger finger happy. Out of the choices you listed..ky would be mine hands down

Of the states listed ...for me it would be Kentucky hands down. Super good whitetail habitat in the central and western part of the state.

From someone that had a camp 4 hours from home, my suggestion is to get something close to home. Ohio has some fantastic hunting, not sure why you wouldn't choose to go there. My suggestion would be unless you were buying it yourself, get something mobile, a camper setup can be a fantastic hunting camp and you can go wherever you want with it. JMHO.
