Does anyone know when rut activity is set to start in Northwest Louisiana this year. I'm going to be hunting there from mid November until the end of season and I'm hoping the rut is going to be late enough for me to get in on the action.
I live in north central louisiana. I am already seeing young bucks with does. But my whole life of hunting in louisiana. You always want to be in the woods Thanksgiving week.
I grew up hunting in bossier parish and I remember it usually being around Nov 10th, I won't be back in Louisiana until closer to the 20th. A lot of places have predicted late ruts this year and I'm hoping that works out for me.
I hunt NWLA. Last year I watched several bucks chasing does the weekend before Thanksgiving. I would assume it would be the same, or close to it this year.
Last week was the youth hunt in area 2 and there were serval bucks killed coming to the grunt calls. They have quit working scrapes so it has already started down here.
Even if I miss most of the rut this will be the first time I have had more than 2 consecutive days to hunt on my family's land in about a decade. I'm looking forward to a break from public hunting grounds.
Still lots of scraping going on in central Louisiana area 2. Had lots of rain yesterday and today found several large scrapes that had been freshened up.
My dad told me last night that he is finding fresh scrapes and rubs on our land but he hasn't witnessed bucks chasing does yet.
