I was however surprised to see Swhackers on the shelf at Wally World. Didn't expect that one.

First...just being a member here does not constitute one owning expensive gear at all. Some of us use used bows...hand me downs or what some say are "entry" level bows (my Mission Venture would be one to some). That said the number one thing which either strengthens or weakens a broadhead is hunter ability. Allen has been around a very long time although I personally would use others I would be confident if they tipped my arrows because it's what I had.

I said a guess, not a guarantee. I can say this because I read most people's signature, and most of them have a fairly new bow. Just an observation. Either way, skimping on $5-$10 on broadheads isn't where I would penny pinch.

Some just dont see the point in spending $13 on bhs. Im one of those guys. Just like any bh if it breaks or is worn out we replace it. As long as allen bhs are sharp it doesn't matter what logo is on it.

I buy'em they can fly as well as higher priced heads. I don't use them on deer but they work nicely on coons and ground hogs.

I buy big name heads because I can afford them, and I like to play with new technology

I will never understand why people will put so much thought and time into gear purchases and then go cheap on something as pivotal as a broadhead.

    Cheap broadheads do not perform.

I got my Admiral here on the forum, I basically stole it from a kid or God was looking in on me b/c I got it for $200 and right now they are going from $300 - $500 on eBay. I'd never had a new bow before or never seen one, so when I got it, it was so short and narrow I thought I got ripped off and he sold me a kids bow!! lol. The only reason I shoot Allen's are because i've had proven success, and if the quality ever drops off then I'll consider switching brands. Until then i'll skimp on broadheads and not gripe so much when the wife buys the ridiculously fluffy tp lol.

An Indian would have given you a squaw for a broadlhead like that!! They ate meat and only had knapped stone in the end of their sticks!!

Jeez all of the deer i've harvested must truly be embarrassed when they are standing next to other deer in deer heaven, only to find out that they were harvested by a broadhead that WILL NOT perform...

Except the skilled indian hunters were the ones that made their tips, not a 12 year old chinese kid running press, stamping out allen broadheads haha. i dunno maybe they are better quality than my Muzzy's, but I have yet to try them so i don't know. I guess that's what the OP was asking.

Allen's are made in CO, they are able to sell them cheap b/c they don't pay people to push their product. They rely on the old school method, word of mouth and proof of product.

They are made in Co, or is Allen just headquartered there? Are they made there, or just assembled and packaged there from chinese steel? Interested to know.

It was stated when you said, and I quote, "cheap broad heads will not work"

Now, are there better out there? I'm sure. Do I use Allen? Nope. Have I? Yep and killed deer with them, so they do in fact work.

Actually, I said they do not perform, and they don't. Thanks for misquoting my quote though;)

Sure, any broadhead can poke a hole in an animal. I'm more interested in what happens when you hit a rib squarely or the shoulder blade. I have personally seen allens, carbon express, and innerloc heads completely trashed from bone.

I don't know,i assumed they made them the same place they are headquartered... that's where the catalog I ordered came from. I just raid their catalog, lol. I can buy 3x the gear for the price... maybe i'm just a cheap skate... I don't want to make anyone mad. I know there are guys out there trying to feed their families with them pushing a product or other guys that want to be just like the pros. Either way if you're in the woods, you scout your own deer, you hang your own stand, and you follow your state guidlines then you've got my respect bottom line.

My apologies for misquoting, you have me there.
But even an Allen is better than an obsidian point as far as durability and people still use and kill with those, in fact a close personal friend of mine killed a 258# hog with a self bow and obsidian point he knapped. Killed it just as good as any other head could have..

Iv no doubt you have more experience than I do, and as I said, I think there are better heads out there. I would rather see someone practice with and make a good shot with an Allen than somebody gut shoot one with the newest and best because it "flies just like a field point"
