Well I departed from my old GT XT Hunter 5575's. They were camo shafts with 5 inch white wraps and 2 white 1 orange blazer. I replaced them with Easton FMJ 340's with the regular black shafts. Now I bought them planning to refletch them. And I'm trying to decide on what I want to do. Show me what you're shooting! I thought about buying the heartland bow hunter edition quick fletches (white wrap 3 white quick spin blazers). I've also thought about doing flo pink. But had a few questions. 1) what would be the easiest to see on the ground of the woods in your opinion 2) are the quick fletches worth it or is wrapping and then fletching more durable and look better? 3) the classic myth of lining fletchings up with Broadheads is just that. A myth?
In my opinion, and it's just my opinion, all white is the best. I can see my arrow flight as clearly as I can with lighted nocks so I get to see where my arrow hits the deer without adding weight to the non-business end of my arrow. The quick fletches are probably pretty cool because they're fast and convenient, but they're expensive and you have no real way to be creative. Yes, the need to line your fletching up with your blades is a myth. Besides, how would you pull this off if you shoot a 2 or 4 blade head? Oh, and here are mine. Well, these aren't my current arrows but they're fletched the same.
I really like those. I wish I would have just ordered the FMJ camo shafts... I really like the camo arrows. But what can you do. Thanks for the input
The arrows in my pic are my old GT 7595s. Great arrows, but the camo finish really seemed to burn into the foam 3D targets. You could give yourself a hernia trying to get them out. There would be specks of foam that seemed to be welded on and I had to scrape it off. I now shoot black Velocity 300's out of my new bow. Much easier to pull.
As I have mentioned in a thread quite some time ago, last year was the first year since 2004 that I have bow hunted. Back then, I had a bitzenburger. I used 4" vanes to practice and hunted strictly with 4" feathers. This whole idea with boiling water and shrink wrapping your fletches to your arrows in incredible. No glue, no mess, just that quick and that easy. I have not had a chance to shoot them yet. But looking forward to getting out and trying these new wraps. Keep ya posted.
I personally like all white to. The reason I went to all white was to see my arrows in flight better. Plus when you need to refletch it will make it easier to just peel off the wrap.
What kind of jig and glue do you use? I've heard good things about the Arizona Ez fletch mini for blazer vanes
I'm skeptical about the quickfletch because I've seen mixed reviews about the quick spins and the twister vanes. I've heard they are louder, slower, (which aren't huge problems) but I've also heard they less durable. Besides that I've seen posts that say at 20 yards they may be fine but at 40 yards they shoot low and to the right etc... Anyone experience this?
I had my FMJ's wrapped and fletched at the local pro shop. They may not look like much... but I can see them a long ways off after shooting one in the woods. For 3D, my buddy hates 'em. He says he has a hard time using them as an 'aiming' point.
